Why not just say his name?

I went to see the Rockettes Christmas Show (wow it was great) except for the end.:sigh:

The stage went black, a single spotlight (white) iluminated the the baby Jesus in the manger. A yellow light showed over head and the narration began.

Through 20 minutes of narration, 3 Kings, sheep, and my tears.....never once was Jesus said. Not once did the narrator speak his name.

He would say Gods son, savoir, or fisher of men...but never Jesus. this upset me greatly.

I live in Nashville and there were many many many Christains at this performance.......the show ended with many people looking around and wondering why......his name was never said.

:sigh: :sigh:

Why don't you write to them? They value input---especially from paying customers.

I need to write to a certain theme park---two years ago they were playing Christmas music---"JOY TO THE WORLD, THE LORD HAS COME" blared out of their loudspeakers. It really made my spirit sing!

:)

Free speech, historically, has only been limited when it offends someone.

Our First Ammendment was written to give each citizen the right to offend people. America has never granted the right to not be offended.

Why have most forgotten that?

:D :D I love that Ben!! I hope you won't mind if I use it sometimes.

I don't know, it seems odd to me that if they were avoiding something for political correctness they would avoid "Jesus".

You said they used "Son of God" and "Savior" which are less "politically correct" -- many non-Christians believe that a person called Jesus existed, so his name shouldn't be a problem. However, non-Christians would not believe in "son of god" or "savior".

Signs of the times. There will be one to come who will claim to be the true messiah, Satan (the anti-christ) incarnate.

Satan knows his demise is approaching and he is the god of this world, his hatred for God and God's creation-mankind is at fever pitch.

How feverishly he works in these latter days to do all in his power by principalities and wicked things in high places to attempt to still the only name unto Salvation, Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.

Satan, is a defeated foe and he knows it.

With my blessing! Tell them ALL!

satan is a defeated foe and he knows it.
But apparently, in the beginning he DIDN'T know it. Which means that pride so blinded him that his IQ fell below that of rock.

I once dreamed that I was addressing a demon-possessed man. I said, "There's always been one question that I've been DYING to ask one of you. Can you tell me---you had HEAVEN, and you THREW IT AWAY! WHY?"

He stared at me for a moment, then his eyes fell to the ground; and he muttered, "No one ever said I was the brightest creature in the Universe"...

Eph writes..

Don't let it get you down...JESUS CHRIST isn't the most popular person these days...

Notice also that MANY say "God" in general terms...so as not to offend anyone...God can be whatever it means then to the listener...God can mean a cow to some..or allah to others...( see what I mean )

So don't let it get you down....YOU and I know who " God " is..It's Jesus Christ...!

There is power in HIS name....and the same word brings LIFE to some...and DEATH to others...!

Jesus' heavenly Father's name is Jehovah.

Sad to say, most (but not all) English Bibles have removed it. Can you believe that?!

It should be in all Bibles some 7,000 times!

The King James at Psalm 83:18 says: "That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth."

And yet, when was the last time you heard the name Jehovah mentioned in a church? Congratulations if you have.

Jesus knew and used God's name and even said that he would make it known. We have the priviledge of working along side our Lord Jesus and make God's name, Jehovah, known.

My little pocket computer Bible (a "Bookman") is NIV---most of the time searching for passages is spent trying to figure out how they MESSED IT UP! I think the translators had an agenda to make it as different as possible.

And searching for the word, "JEHOVAH", brings up the box
"JEHOVAH NOT IN THE BIBLE".

I've always had fun pondering what Jesus' new name would be in heaven.  He's had so many, yet still, in Revelation, it says He will have a new name.  I agree with you defender, not just because you're so good looking ;), but if they're going to mention many of Jesus' names, just say the most powerful one.  Lord Jesus Christ!

In prayer to his heavenly Father at John 17 and in particular verse 26.....Jesus said:

(John 17:26) And I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in union with them."

Did we notice........."I have made YOUR name known....."

And what name was that? Jesus, an avid student of the Holy Scriptures, read the name some 7,000 times. Notice a scripture that he was well aware of:

(Psalm 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth.

We should not be afraid of the name .....Jehovah........because as we read at Proverbs 18:10, we learn we can benefit from it:

(Proverbs 18:10) The name of Jehovah is a strong tower. Into it the righteous runs and is given protection.

So let us use and declare  the name of Jesus' heavenly Father, Almighty God, just as Jesus did.

Well of course Jesus Christ knew his own name...HE is God...in any language you'd like to use..to say it...is FINE with me...!

From the Biblical point of view...on the day of Penticost...Peter spoke...and ALL the different people who listened heard the word in their OWN tongue...SEE ACTS 2:5:8..

Don't end up getting "stuck" on this one point...about God and HIS name....You'll miss the forest thru the trees...!

God described himself using MANY names...JEHOVAH..being one of them...

ELOHIYM another...EL...AYIL...TSUWR...YEHOWYAQIYM...YAHH...YAHOVAH SHALOWM...and many others...!

Jesus is the one who came down to earth.

Jehovah is the one who sent him.

Jehovah remained in heaven and said the following at Jesus' baptism:

(Matthew 3:17) Look! Also, there was a voice from the heavens that said: "This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved."

The one with the voice in heaven......his name is Jehovah.

Joel 2:32
"And it shall be that whosoever shall call upon the name of Jehovah shall be saved:..."

This verse is quoted in Rom 10, where it could be rendered Jehovah without doing injury to the meaning of the passage:

Romans 10:13 KJV
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord (Jehovah) shall be saved.

But there is a problem... the context of Romans 10 is that we are to confess (or call upon) the name of the Lord, but the passage says His name is Jesus!

Romans 10:9-13 KJV
(9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
(10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
(11) For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
(12) For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
(13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord (Jehovah) shall be saved.

Jesus is Jehovah!

I confess Jehovah Jesus!

Eph writes...

Right we shouldn't be afraid...

Please see MATT 6:9...JESUS introduced GOD to us...by telling us to call him "FATHER" when we pray...not JEHOVAH....!

Now of course we can all get hung up and bogged down on this.."name of God".....and we can all ACT holier than thou..by saying it perfectly the WAY he would have said it..( which is really just spiritual one up manship mixed with human pride )...!

As if God is worried about how his "children" say his name when they cry out to him..!

What gain is there..in all that for the kingdom..?

ANSWER:

Nothing...it's just a "look at ME and how Holy and better I can act than you"..type attitude..and IT stinks...of filthy rags...!
