Well, been a long time since I've posted here, but I wanted to post about a singer/song and about a specific line she says:
Specifically she is Brooke Fraser and the song is "Albertine".

She's actually a member of Hillsong Church, but we use a lot of their music for our youth.

Thing is the Album Albertine and the song albertine are her own single.

The line I was talking about is:

"Now that I have seen, I am responsible; Faith without deeds is dead"

The thing is, I've been thinking a lot about that sort of thing lately.

Where I come from (South Africa) There is a lot of poverty... children dying of absolute starvation; people dying of aids;
There is crime, and many other travesties... So I can well Identify with what she's saying

(The song is about Albertine - a girl she met in Rwanda - who lost everyone because of the genocide - she sings about now being
responsible -- not being allowed to just DO nothing)...

I've always believed the same thing: "Faith without deeds is dead" -- Not because of Justification by deeds at all, but
because having Faith, Loving God will NATURALLY be manifest in our actions, in our deeds, in our thoughts... because what
we LOVE, becomes part of us, and we of it... So, the deeds will STEM from the Faith that we have, and will reinforce it. And God's Grace will feed us and strengthen that Faith, that Love.

Anyway I was just thinking about how amazing and unselfish those words of hers are.

In Christ.

In today's Christian society, the "politically correct rule" is that anyone who proclaims that he/she is saved, we are not allowed to question it. As a matter of fact one of the big wig mods here posted some falsehood about questioning another's salvation brings your own into question. Pure junk. Jesus himself tells us to be on the look-out for false prophets and He also tells us that everyone who calls Him "Lord, Lord" will not get into heaven.

I say that to make a point. Look at what one does...his/her fruits...not what one says. James says it best.

Jas 2:17-22 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. (18) Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. (19) Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (20) But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? (21) Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? (22) Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

Even the demons and Satan know Jesus is Lord, but that doesn't save their souls. Saying....even KNOWING "Jesus is Lord" is not the same as Jesus being one's personal Lord in everyday life....not just on Sundays. And as Christian, it is up to those of us who are saved to recognize when someone claims he/she is, but is not......not to condemn, but to open their eyes before they spend eternity in Hell.

:) I agree...when I listen to the song it encourages me to not be lazy and remember that faith should be lived out...out of love for God.

God bless

hehe I thought I was the only one...

There're actually a few songs on that song that do...

Thing is I moved to Holland... and the situation of the Church here is delicate... there're no youth... which has led me to think of home... that combined with this song...

well lets say some really strong emotions and longings...
