• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Yes ^^^ a very powerful thread ... funny how we search the internet for help with this engulfing sin.... Good thing God doesn't love us for who we are but loves us because of who HE is .... I struggle with these issues along side of all of you .... This thread is both an inspiration and amazing encouragement for me .... one of my favourite songs is "Stay Strong, News Boys" .... it picks me up and pushes me to the next level ... This is a race that can be WON ... just got to stay strong and fix your eyes on the prize that lies ahead .... Read Phillipians 3: 7-16 DAILY ....

This thread has truly blessed me thank you to you all and be blessed :)

I decided to do something like this before I even came to these forums. So far I've gone 153 days and I will have half a year in only one more month. Sure it was hard but with self control and the power of your own will you can overcome your emotions

I think instead of trying to prevent it from happening, it would be more efficient to not even think about it at all. I believe reading the Bible consistently and engaging in various types of activities (no, I don't mean TV watching or movie watching, as those tend to ignite the flame abruptly) would help not to dwell on the thought at all. If you keep count at the days you haven't masturbated, it's like saying "ok, I'm going to see how far I go without doing it", which means some day you'll do it but you'll just prolonging the days. I remember when I quit smoking, the only way to do it was just put my foot down and just stop; I mean, seriously just stop and it actually worked.

MODHAT:

hello! i apologize for approving the last few posts (now deleted). i didn't realized it would derail the thread and dendorse the behaviors people are seeking recovery from. no one is in hot water. but we need to remind members that the recovery forum is for recovery minded posters only. you may use other places in the forum to debate, or post your opinions about morality and ethics.
you can really help staff get you approved by looking at the stickid rules for this forum. blessings! xo dee

This is extremely wise counsel. I was one of the original posters in this thread and have learned through the years that focusing on our sin is not the solution. We have to look back to what Christ did for us on the Cross and realize the One who saved us, also makes us holy. We will all stumble, we will all fall, but Christ has saved us from all our sins, past, present, and future. Drawing closer to Him is the only way to break the power of sin in our lives. Count yourself dead to sin, you are! It's nothing you've done, or will ever do, but only because we were in Christ in His death that we have been set free.

I didn't post this to debate. I only want to remind everyone our blessed hope is found only in Christ.

I have been struggling with the same problem that a lot of you are going through. I really want to get over it now. I just feel so ashamed to be called the disciple of Christ!

I will take up the challenge of No inappropriate content or Masturbation for a month! and hopefully this will be my first step toward victory in Christ Jesus!
I will need lots of prayer support and I will be definitely praying for my fellow brothers and sisters as well

shalom!!

p.s day 1!! and running toward freedom in Christ:pray:

I know how you feel, I've been struggling with it too, for many years. All I can feel in the long run is emptiness and guilt...My whole life as a christian sounds like a big lie because of this...I spend more time lusting than dedicating my holy life to Him.

This is day 1 for me. Thank you for all your inspirational posts, blessings to you all :)

I'm a young christian. I find it difficult to live in the world and not have temptations. I am still a virgin and I plan on being so until marriage, but I touch...often. At my best I have gone as long as a week without doing it, and at my worse as often as 3 times a day. I try but I actually wonder where masturbation ranks. I know that sin is sin, regardless of what it may be, but in the christian community is masturbation as bad as sex?

Praying for you all....I'm here for another periodic update lol. Something hit me and all of a sudden, I had no desire to do it. I'm now on Day 15 (I think) which would be my longest yet. :) All glory be to God. Please pray for me that I may not fall into temptation. I'm praying for you all. :prayer:

good luck to you! it is a hard thing for all us young people.

I am currently struggling as I have since I went through puberty, and I haven't visited this site in years. I recently broke up with my fiance, so this has been a hard time with the lonelyness. I will try to remember to keep you all in my prayers.

As far as concerning "Where Masturbation Ranks", well it doesnt carry the same conseqences as Sex does obviously, but like you said, sin is sin so it is just as wrong if it is.
