Religious Snake-handling

Should religious snake-handling be illegal?

  • Yes. Only qualified scientists should ever handle snakes.

  • Only for minors. It should be legal for adults.

  • No. If a snake bites you, it's your own fault for handling it.

  • No. For those who have enough faith, there is nothing wrong with this practice.

or this?

tulc(was there in California when the box of snakes came out) :sorry:
This just in... pet snakes handled familiarly/skillfully less likely to bite.

*edit - it seems people are regularly bitten including the founder of this pentecostal practice dying from a snake bite in 1955.

...which is true. It doesn't however change the fact that some Churches do indeed handle snakes. :)

And so did steve erwin. Wow, he must be the most devout xian in the world until a sting ray took him out. Too bad the bible didn't cover rays.

My point is if they were truly given some power there would be no bites, deaths, or disfigurements. So yes they handle them... just not without consequences.

Well I can't speak to how devout Irwin was or wasn't I am unaware of any Scripture equating snake handling with being a better Christian. ;)

uhmmm that may be what you meant, it isn't however what you said. Plus there are many examples (just in the videos I posted) of people handling them without being bitten. What you said was:
levi501 said:
As absurd as handling deadly snakes sounds according to the bible christians should be able to do it.
...but they can't, hrm.
and I posted several vids of people actually doing so, that you want to now move the goal posts doesn't change those facts.

Right well this where common sense should've come into play.
Turn on the discovery channel and there are many people handling snakes.
It should've been obvious that I meant without consequence.

uhmmm perhaps it wasn't as obvious as you thought?
