I never jumped off the roofs (all our windows were painted shut) but I did climb a lot of trees and occasionally fell out of them. I miss making couch forts though. We had the best couch cushions once, they were perfectly squared off and firm enough you could build a stone-henge tower and climb on top of it.

My secret desire when I finally have my own place to live is to buy/construct furniture that is the same ratio to my size as all furniture was when I was small.

Fort building was the ultimate!! We lived in a very rural area growing up and had all the best scrap wood for fort building up high in the trees! Of course back then, 4 or 5 feet was "high".

Nice to see the website getting some publicity. I really do find all the anti-HP hype amusing. I worked at a bookstore when books 1 and 2 were out. There were extremely popular and I dismissed them as overly mass market, and didn't bother to read them figuring they were just children's books. The extreme reaction in the face of the movie, though, prompted me to get interested. I saw the film, liked it, and have been in line ever since on the first day of book releases, through number 7, and I've also seen all the other films the day of release and multiple times since. I've purchased the books for various relatives and taken most of my younger cousins to the films. All because people were throwing a fit about it and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. If individuals hadn't reacted in such a fashion, I never would have bothered with HP, but the panic is so intriguing...I think WND is probably receiving a discreet stipend to run articles like this in order to attract publicity.

jeez...I at least had the sense to test my flying powers off the *couch* first. I was certain that gravity would just give up, eventually.

The front room couch for me was the landing mat for me where I as either some sort of Indiana Jones like character or secret agent landed after narrowly escaping death from an explosion :) That or it was a speeding train I was clinging to , trying to fight off the evil enemy spy trying to kill me.
