Whoa yourself, dew. I think you remember reading something somewhere that you thought said that. Those guys did pretty well for a society that didnt even have metals or wheels! But to think they could do ANYTHING more accurately / precisely is just silly. Go back and read more than you have up till now before making such inacccuate / imprecise statements. Saying things like "systems more accurate" suggests very strong y you dont even know what 'systems' those might have been.

oh? the Mayans had wheeled transportation and did bronze and iron?
tell on.
hmmm interesting, the Mayans wrote the bible did they? (since it's the bible that's being discussed and genesis in particular)
good job of missing the point of course, about the precision of their timepieces.
missing the point eh? that's funny considering it was me who pulled consol/iremouth up on his baseless assertions about ancient near eastern cultures and their supposed inability to tell time in the first instance. but i reckon you managed to match him in claiming that they had no wheels or metals

"Whoa people, 3000 years ago they had precise time keeping devices (during the day) and systems more accurate then our own. Sure, only a few people were in charge of it, but they used it for some very sophisticated purposes.
(in central America at least)"

This is the post I was responding to. No call for getting snarky.

And this is happening today..... try and imagine what it was like 2000 years ago when Genesis was written, Genesis must have seemed like the only possible way the earth and everything could have been made, by some fantastic God, however, we know better now, well some of us do, I cannot even begin to imagine the amount of ignorance required for a person to believe in creationism.
Genesis written 2000 years ago???

You are absolutely right dad, it was written even further back in the mists of time, back to a time when they knew even less than they did 2000 years ago, but saying that, no one knows when or by whom the bible was written, do they?

consol you and dad are like two peas in a pod. Long on rhetoric, short on substance. By the way I'm still waiting for you to produce evidence for your previous claims.

Is "a fair cop" the same as taking responsibility for trying to make fun of someone for saying something that you didnt understand coz you didnt read?

It's a way of saying 'my mistake, I apologise'. Maybe try not taking everything quite so personally.

"Oops, my bad" might convey that message a little better. ;)

Regardless Hespera, you should probably just move past it. This is about as apologetic as anyone really gets around here. ;)^_^

I just asked what it meant, coz I didnt know. "my mistake" is fine, i dont need an apology.

Try not making so many personal remarks, including the last one there.

Which part of it? There were different prophets over the course of time. Ezekiel, Isiah, etc. Many dates are considered known, and authors. For Genesis, I believe it is ascribed to Moses. That guy was known for talking to God directly. In fact, the ten commandments were penned by the finger of the Almighty Personally. He ought to know about creation. What is misty for science, is noon day sun bright for God.

The man actually believes these fables, he has swallowed them hook, line and sinker, does religion damage the brain? I don't know if it does or not but dad is living proof that it sure won't do it any good.
