• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

spiritual warfare

Just recently I have felt much closer to God, and have started being more active in my church and community which is wonderful. My children are loving sunday school, and we are trying to live as a truely christian family.

But why is it that when everything else is seeming to be together, my much beloved and I are bickering more and money seems tighter than normal. Then, I had an accident in my car last week which the other party is claiming was my fault (something I disagree with) but if he won't admit liability I'll have to pay for the repairs. And today I realised that having done the shopping for food for the next week or so, I now don't have the money for my new set of contact lenses that I have been waiting for for 6 months. (I ended up having to wear glasses while I waited to have enough money)

I know the contact lenses are just vanity and I shouldn't be upset about them, but it just feels as though we are under attack at the moment.

sorry for letting of steam, but I would really appreciate it if you would add me to your prayers. :sigh:

The liability thing is weird; around here, we just foist that debate off on the insurance companies, and they pay either way. I guess you guys don't do it the same way?

Money is always tight this time of year, at least around here; I try to get gifts for all my friends, and boom, there went the budget.

Anyway, take care.

thank you all, it helps to know that people are praying for us. I was reading a post on the site and at the bottom someone's signature had a quote from psalm 30 v5 which really helped. "weeping may endure for a night, but joy commeth in the morning"
it is right, I feel a lot more positive this morning, nothing material has changed but I feel more able to cope with it. and really thats all I need. sometimes its hard to feel God is close when you are going through hard times, but you all have helped me feel closer to Him again. Thank you.

There are valleys in everyone's life and you are going through one right now.  Stay close to God and He will walk through that valley with you.  Sometimes when the cares of life are pressing in on you it is easy to get discouraged.  But if you draw closer to God you find that you have all the strength you need to make it through the valleys of life.

I myself have been traveling some very deep valleys recently and it is only by God's grace that I've been able to make it thus far.

He loves you and will help you.  And I'll pray for you.

And you WILL make it!

The devil will cause circumstances, problems, even people to come along to steal your peace and joy. He does it so you take your eyes of God and his word and drawing near to him , leaning on him and trying to stop us from have a closer walk with the Lord. Press into God and thank God that he is able to fix all those problems and worries. Praise him for who he is.
God is bigger than any problem the devil throws you way.

God Bless Evangeline,
Praying for you.

satan does not like it when we aim to please God. He will do everything he can to cause us to stop giving thanks and praising the Lord. But when we stay focused on Jesus and keep trusting in him, and ask him for his help, He will help us overcome all our troubles.

I will most certainly say a prayer for you and your family.

I was in the same shoes as you a few months back. You know, just when we are begining to make progress spiritually, the devil does all he can to make us regress spiritually. But I've learnt to claim my position in christ . We have to be at alert all the times as the devil goes around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. I read a book called "Spiritual Warfare" a while back, I can't remember the name of the author at the moment.(I'll try to get the name for you) . Really edifying book. Finally clothe your self completely with the full amor if God, the bible tells us how to do this: T

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Ephesians 6:10-18

Hi Lexy, thanks for that insight, the book you mention sounds really good. And thank you for the reminder to be clothed in God's armour against the Devil. Sometimes you get caught up in the struggle and don't look at it from a distance and realise your armour has holes in it. At least I know that if the Devil is that keen on attacking me, I must be doing something right for God. :)
