I sometimes feel so selfish in my life, I work, pay for my needs, but only care about myself it seems as its easier.

I always want to help others, yet is sit here and do nothing, as its easier to just go with the flow of mainstream society.

Theres so many people who need to feel Gods love out there and others who just need general help.

I help nobody, i give some money to homeless charities, but thats just "lazy compassion"

I feel such a hypocrite, as I often Judge the modern world, yet in alot of ways, I go along with it all, working, paying bills, being selfish.

I dont know.

Sounds like you want to go in the right direction...

Instead of giving money to homelss people, I rather, take them out to eat or buy them a meal. (Usually to a place like Mc'Donalds or JackinTheBox.) Not saying you have to do that--although it would be a start-. If you feel that way I suggest you start looking for opportunities to bless others..

The folowing agrees with your thinking
18 "I came to hate all my hard work here on earth, for I must leave to others everything I have earned.
19 And who can tell whether my successors will be wise or foolish? Yet they will control everything I have gained by my skill and hard work under the sun. How meaningless!
20 So I gave up in despair, questioning the value of all my hard work in this world.
21 Some people work wisely with knowledge and skill, then must leave the fruit of their efforts to someone who hasn't worked for it. This, too, is meaningless, a great tragedy.
22 So what do people get in this life for all their hard work and anxiety?
23 Their days of labor are filled with pain and grief; even at night their minds cannot rest." - Ecclesiastes 2:18-23

Solomon continued to show that hard work bears no lasting fruit for those who work solely to earn money and gain possessions. Not only will everything be left behind at death, but it may be left to those who have done nothing to earn it. In addition, it may not be well cared for, and all that was gained may be lost. In fact, Solomon's son, who inherited his throne, immediately made a foolish decision which split the kingdom (1 Kings 12). Hard work done with proper motives (caring for your family, serving God) is not wrong. We must work to survive, and, more important, we are responsible for the physical and spiritual well-being of those under our care. But the fruit of hard work done to glorify only ourselves will be passed on to those who may later lose or spoil it all. Such toil often leads to grief, while serving God leads to everlasting JOY!

Unless we can help others ( and ourselves ) , find , and hold fast unto the end , The Lord's leading , guiding , enabling Spirit within ; and thereby be adopted in God's Heavenly Family , being redeemed from doom by The Blood of Jesus , we are doomed , and all of our works with us .

But whatever we can do , no matter how small , to encourage or relieve another is priceless and eternal , if it is done in Christ's name - which is to say if it helps another to receive / hold fast the gift of saving faith in Jesus .

And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. <-----> Matthew 10:42

For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. <-----> Mark 9:41

May The Lord Be Pleased to Refresh and Encourage !

If you are going to be part of the KINGDOM of ALMIGHTY GOD you MUST GIVE IT ALL TO GOD.

GOD demands that you give HIM your WHOLE heart, mind, strength, and soul. That means you go in prayer and tell GOD that you will do this and from that moment on seek GOD in all your decisions. After this is complete GOD will know. For HE searches the heart. HE will then send HIS HOLY SPIRIT ( ANOINTED-BORN AGAIN- SAVED ). For it is then that you shall receive the MISSION GOD has for just you and supply all your needs, even what you have not the ability to have.

Pick up GOD'S ROAD MAP to the KINGDOM of ALMIGHTY GOD ( BIBLE ) and start reading the NEW TESTIMENT till the next time you read it you will already know what IT'S going to say. For then it's locked in your heart to draw from for the rest of your life. You will NEVER be sorry you did.

Do yourself a BIG FAVOR and Start right now!!!

LOVE

I know how you feel, I often feel that I don't do enough. I'm mentally ill and spend much of my time sat at home, so it's easy to start despairing.

Then I remember; the Lord guides our paths and his Will prevails. When it's time for me to change roles it will be when my Lord decides, not when my own (human) wisdom tells me.

Remember, Jesus sent one man back to his family because his place was there. Paul set up churches that could not have remained if every member had learned for a few months then set off in a random direction to preach.

Every part of the Lords church has a different role; and every member. I personally think my role may be that of support and encouragment to my family. If i'm made healthy and the support is no longer needed, i'm sure my Lord will give me a new job.

I'm not very good with charity; i'm free with my money and don't care about it, but nor do i trust the organised charities since many of them are interwoven and corrupt. Nor does my small town have a homeless shelter as far as i know.

I may personally send some money over to the Messianic Jews in Israel; they are having a rough time, persecuted very much in the mold of the olden days.

Sounds like God has ripened you, and has put the desire in your heart to help ppl. Now pray that he shows you the avenues in which you can help ppl. It can be something small. When you ask in faith, for God to show you, he will. He's always looking for willing vessels. Just step out...

"I'm not doing enough" sounds like a common dilemma these days I'm not doing enough x y or z. Well even if we give a cup of water or help somebody with something trivial, God notices that. I guess He knew that we would feel like it's never enough regardless what we do. Having said that, I think it would motivate us to want to do more because we want to, rather than because we "should".

Would it be enough if everytime we felt convicted of a sin to take it to the throne of grace to recieve mercy? Would that change us enough to become a proper vessel for THE LORD TO WORK THROUGH US?

I'm thinking it would

I dont know.

Let God have the victory, for we are but in darkness much of the time, we need him and should be willing to do what he asks us to. Your work is honesty and has helped me to see something that I have missed. Thank you. I have given to a particular charity for a long time. They are changing their name away from Christian to a more worldly title, but their message is loving others, especially children. The responsibility has been shifted towards me to help others to know Christ (because of their name change). I shouldn't find cause to abandon them for their reach to help others more. I can speak for Christ in the absence of a name.

Living at peace and within the principles of Christ (his teachings and commands) is a huge accomplishment. Many pastors and leaders fail Christ, because of a lack of understanding him and obeying him. We are all knit together. Let us love one another and be willing to take any opportunity that comes to serve God through Jesus alone. Obeying Jesus is easy, but obeying Church doctrine and chasing after guilty consciences is futile and very hard. If we obey the teachings of Christ and his commands, then we will have the insight and willingness to do anything that he wants of us; be willing & wanting to be of use. Don't worry of the pride of some of their great accomplishments for Christ. Be weary of this pride. Be loving and willing for God through Christ alone. Your journey is a relationship with the Almighty God as your Father, for you are born of God through Jesus Christ. You are no longer created, but born and an amazement of God's as one of his children. Rest in confidence with Jesus Christ alone.

Their is but one Gospel out there that is of God. It is the Gospel from his heart to us, and that is the words of Jesus Christ. Seek Jesus by obeying him written and saved for us in the Bible. Forget all concerns, especially those of men with their own personally believed Jesus plus other things. Take Jesus as unleavened bread from Heaven in a passover from the coming Judgment of God to the World. Obey him alone and enter into his Kingdom today. Much love to you and all.

Hi E ! ,

Yea , and not only mercy , but mercy + grace !

Mercy covers our past .

Grace enables our future .

The only thing left is the present ... but it is the state in which we live .

Hence , while being covered both with regards to our past sin and our future victory over sin + death , we only need to step forward in faith , right here , right now , and follow what Christ is most assuredly leading us to do .

Not sure what that is ?

Pray , and study His Word !

And it will be made clear !

Sincerely ,

wm

 wm Yes, that's really what I meant in coming to the throne of grace to receive His mercy. When bringing the convicted areas to Him..ie: when an area of our life has been revealed in His light, then instead of going about things on our own...bring it all (thoughts included) to Christ.
That's what discernment (revelation) is for, so that we can say "yes, Lord" and not turn back to our old ways. Hence, the past forgiven (mercy) and a new, future way (grace) of handling things. The present is the renewing of the mind.

Amen to the stepping forward in faith. With every victory comes stronger faith and more light to move further in.

Yea ,

When Jesus said that we could move mountains if we had a mustard seed's faith ... that's exactly what he was referring to ... but what can trip us up a bit , is the tendency to be a little over eager , and start trying to command this world's mountains , when we haven't yet successfully commanded the mole hills in our own back yard . The solution to this is - start small , stay with it , and one day , our mustard seed will be a great tree , and then will the mountains flee , but not before . Because even as the tiny seed mentioned , our gift of faith is viable .

viable - capable of living , growing , and developing .

Peace and Love in Christ ,

wm

Dear All Englands Skies. Many are like you, the Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. I am sure there is something you enjoy doing? a hobby, or a gift? Try and find it, and then use it to give pleasure to others. It does not need to be something special, or outstanding, think about it, Englands Skies, and find a way how to make use of it, to give pleasure to others. Your heart is in the right place, and if you ask God, who will know your thoughts and wishes, God will show you. The first thing must always be love, love for God, or love for your family, your friends, or someone in need. Jesus will guide you, and help you. " Ask and you will be answered." God`s promise to us. I say this humbly and with love. Greetings from Emmy, sister in Christ.
