Thank you! :)

I am from Georgia (former Soviet country) in Eastern Europe near Russia.

You may be surprised, but this is a board on which 90% of the members know where Georgia is, and probably know a few folks from it. There are several members in my parish from Georgia.

I would like to post my thoughts here and make new Orthodox Christian friends from all over the World.

You came to the right place! Welcome to TAW. You may wish to post a "hello" thread in the main TAW forum (rather than in this thread), so those who aren't reading this thread can have a chance to say "hello" to you as well.

In Christ,
Macarius

Not sure where it is, but I'm a fan of their great beach volleyball team; remember Geor & Gia? :)

Hi Dorothea,

I would go further saying most people, in general, have no desire of learning or study history whether it is Orthodox, Catholic or the American Civil War. My recommendation would be to invite and provide, honest and sincere people wanting to learn history, with good resources.
Spot on!

I would like to discuss this further, but shall refrain from doing so. I gave up thread-derailment for non-fasting seasons.

Thank you! :)

Welcome!

Just a question: Why do you use the older Georgian flag and not the actual ?

Thanks
That may be an issue with CF's software. I know the flag was changed sometime around 2004, so chances are none of the tech folks for the website either heard about the change or bothered to change it.

The American state of Georgia's flag was also changed in 2004. Weird coincidence, huh?

I use older Georgian flag because of this message board system. This web page automatically choses the flag after indication of the country and unfortunately here they haven't installed the newer flag yet so when I registered as Georgian, I was automatically given the wrong flag. :)

Thanks for your answer.
Next question: Why was the flag changed when Saakashvili was elected president (I think tha was the moment) ?

I agree. I was able to see a performance by a Georgian group which performed some Georgian sacred music followed by some traditional folk music/dances. It was beautiful. I wish I had been able to buy one or two of their CDs but I didn't have the cash at the time.

I saw a similar group in Ohio about 3 or 4 years ago.
