I love the beach! I've been three times in my life. :( The next beach I'll go to is in Portugal! Three weeks!

I also love mountain lakes. There's nothing better than taking a canoe out onto a mountain lake in the middle of the night - the stars seem so close you could reach out and touch them. It's so quiet but sound carries so well that you can hear the nocturnal animals rustling through the trees and undergrowth on the other side of the lake.

I need to go camping.

I've never been much of a fan. I just don't find them all that exciting. They're fun for a bit but when people go to beaches its generally for hours on end. They get boring fast, I think. I enjoy walking along the beach, so for example I'd be fine going to the beach on a date or wandering around one by myself, but if like a church group or something wants to go then it just isn't my thing. Which is ironic because I'm an extrovert but when I'm there with a large group I just feel as though there are way more exciting places for a large group to be.

I love the beach and miss it miss it miss it!!!!

I lived in Virginia Beach on and off for 7 years. A couple of friends and I rented a
big townhouse near Chesapeake Beach, I lived about 100 yards from the sand.
I have a few great/not so great beach memories…

I had just finished a 3 mile run, my friends were kicking my soccer ball around and when a pretty woman would run by, they would kick it to her and pretend like they messed up, hoping to strike a conversation. There were a lot of people so they lost track who they had kicked my ball too, one woman had the ball kicked her way for the second time did not take kindly to their advances. To my shock, she picked up my ball and punted it into the water, rather far to her credit. Fully clothed, with celly in pocket, I dove into the water and swam to get my ball. Celly ruined.

Swimming at night like an idiot, thankfully the Chesapeake Bay Bridge was there.

Lots of great football games and parties with friends.

Getting stung by a jellyfish was VERY un-choice.

I have never been comfortable with beaches. Too much sun with no shade (unless you bring an umbrella), which is not good for me because I am very fair and burn extremely easily. Too many people, which makes me extremely nervous. And I find that the swimming is pretty boring. Shallow water, waves. Nothing to see.

The only thing I used to like was building sand castles.

I prefer small lakes. Lots to see, places to swim, deeper water! And hardly any people!

I'm more likely to go hiking in the woods (or mountains, if I'm in that part of the country) than I am to go to a beach. I'm just not fond of beaches.

I never said I had a problem with rivers. I actually like water that's moving somewhat. I think a slow-moving river might be my ideal "body of water" the more I think about it.

But I can do without the 16 foot grizzly bears. Or mountain lions. I'd rather take my chances at the beach.

Another good thing about being close to civilization (at a beach) is that, *if* you were to get hurt somehow and need medical attention, it would be right there for you. Unlike the mountains.

Personally, I want my vacation destination to be walking distance from Walgreen's, Chili's, and Starbucks, at the very least.

OH my gosh.. I LOVE the beach. Its my favorite place to be.. which is why I basically spend at least 15-20 minutes of everyday at one.. Even if its just going for a short walk to look at the water for a minute.. I HAVE to be there. :D

The beach is my calming place to rest and soak up the sun, the sights, the smells, the air.. everything. Its the best. Thank God for beaches.. :D :amen:

One time when I was very young I was with my friends and there were about 4 of us holding onto a mattress-style raft and floating in the ocean. Before we knew it, we were way out at sea and could barely see the beach anymore. We had also drifted down the beach a long ways and it took us a while to walk back to our families after we got to land.

We almost died. It was so cool.

Our beach smells sometimes. Other than that, I'm a fan... you just have to know where and when to go. (I enjoy any excuse to walk barefoot in public)

I love going to the Lakefront when it's a bit breezy and sunny -- or at night, if police officers aren't around to ask you what's up.
