Reviewing the poll, I noticed that two people voted, "No, never" on suicide being a sin. Having not noticed any posts with this attitude, I'm curious as to who voted this and why? I can understand the "Depends on the situation" vote, if one defines willingly sacrificing one's life to safe another for example, to be suicide, but I don't think any case can really be made that it's never a sin. Comments?

When I made the poll, I tried to make options so that there was an option for everyone, the sort of thought that I thought some people may have was that a suicide bomber was sinning where as someone who was mentally ill was not, hope that is clear.

As for the people who have said no, never, I have no idea who they are or what there reasons were, maybe they will make themselves known, but I doubt it as if they didn't posta comment I tend to thinkt hey won't be checking back here.

That's too bad.  I was interested in what the arguement for it not being sin was.  I could probably argue successfully that it is not a sin, but I won't, since I wouldn't be convincing since I don't agree and my position has already been mad known on this thread.

Having recently lost an acquintance to suicide (one of the regulars over on Internet Infidels), I have to say, it's a bad thing. However, I tend to see God as being pretty merciful towards us, especially when we're in pain.

Still, if you can get any kind of counseling, do it.

If anyone is reading this AND CONTEMPLATING SUICIDE, consider: life is a gift. It is only given to you once.

You are going to die---someday---anyway. NO ONE gets out of this alive. If you hurry the event how much you will MISS! So many times in life the expression, "darkest JUST BEFORE THE DAWN" applies. LOOK---see? Just ahead, around the curve---there is a light...

It does not matter where you have come from, how much darkness and pain you have seen or still see; He loves you

HE LOVES YOU!

He hurts WITH you! He has a plan for you---says so in Jeremiah 19:11-14. A plan for GOOD THINGS.

As you sink beneath the quicksand, as the cold darkness closes in on you---there is laughter. Evil laughter from the ones who have been lying to you all along---telling you THAT THERE IS NO HOPE.

There is a hope. JESUS is our hope. 1Tim1:1

He's standing there on the edge of the quicksand, holding His hand out to you---reach yours back. That's all. Just reach, just cry out His name.

Yes that means going for help, but you have nothing to lose.

NOTHING.

Except the darkness.

In Him, is LOVE!

...forever...

If you are hurting, contemplating "final exit", turn to someone---someone near you, or one of us---someone who can help you get in contact with help.

God's thoughts of YOU are greater than the sand. None of you, nor I, shall ever understand the depth of His love for each of us---but we can be terribly grateful for it, we can love Him back for it...

:)

Wow you can do anything and still be saved!!

No telling what kind of murders and misfits we may meet when we get to heaven.

 Goodness I am so excited.

Actually though I really believe someone that commits suicide is no longer in control of their minds.

I believe that God will take that in consideration after all he is merciful.

my two cents... dollars... halfpennies... crowns... yeah...

suicide is murder. the fact is, we don't own our own lievs, God does. God made us, God owns us. So to kill ourselves is just as if we were killing someone else.

I voted that it depended on circumstances. I was thinking of people with terminal illnesses and were in a lot of pain. Now that I think about it, I'm not so sure. I agree with pauls post too.
I also don't want you to kill or harm yourself. I believe that you don't want to, but if you ever feel that way again (which is possible), find a person that cares about you pronto (i'm sure you know this already though).
