Gobama your Mama! Where I come from, where I live Obama's approval rating is 100% that is a poll conducted with only sampling on members of my household though, including the cat, which I have renamed as Obama! It'll all work out eventually! Even that swine flu doesn't look so bad anymore, things are looking up!

Yuck. Even if I didn't think Obama was doing such an awful job at "leading" this country, I would be disgusted by how many people lavish their praises on him. He's a human being, for crying out loud. He's not some savior, here to save America from a fate worse than destruction. If anything, he's only doing more to put in on the road to destruction.(My own opinion there, which I can't exactly prove since a difference of opinion as regards to right and wrong would be flawed to some, depending on the party they associate with.)

But seriously now, if you have a reason to like him, by all means, more power to you. But don't make him up to be God Himself.

I think it is important to stay positive during these trying times. I believe President Obama has charted a new course to combat the problems at hand, he realizes that there is no band aid for these problems and needs the help of americans to find the right solutions. I was reading a book called "The Dumbest Generation" by Mark Bauerlein and he made a lot of interesting points about young people born between 1980 to 2000, which was the generation he was refering to, but the point I'll mention here is that he said "there are no more cultural warriors." What I think he meant by that was for a democracy to be a functioning democracy, to succeed in the world, we need people to have a healthy debate to exchange ideas back and forth between people and not just get stuck surrounded by yes men and women which I hope we can kind of get some of that over here I guess, but some people can't handle inter-idealogical debate though we'll see.

Gobama. Go Usa, or Go crazy!

I admire your enthusiasm, sir, even as I disagree with your outlook. You seem like a good egg, so cheers to you.

I'll gladly stay positive, but you're kidding yourself if you think Obama has done nothing wrong yet. His first mistake was supporting the Bush bailout, and now he's spending money at record rates to bailout any and everything that asks for it. He's rapidly getting the federal government to get it's grubby paws into everything it can, to make the transition from somewhat free market to socialist market where the nanny state controls everything. All of this is without acknowledging the fact that at this rate of spending, the American dollar will be almost completely worthless by 2012. Pumping $22 trillion into the economy (If he spends at the current rate) will do that.

Inspite of watching Obama destroy what the Founding Fathers worked so hard to build, I can stay positive. After all, the worst that can happen to me is that I die, at which point I won't have to worry about it anymore.

I seriously doubt anyone (except perhaps a very few crazies) think of Obama in terms of being some Messiah or reincarnated Buddha or something.

I think the confusion of some regarding the great enthusiasm over Obama by the many is caused by - that's right - George Bush, Jr.

Mr. Bush was SUCH a screw-up, not to mention an unindicted war criminal, that ANYONE would appear sort of like a god in comparison, even perhaps you or me.

Obama will undoubtedly make some serious mistakes during his 8 years as POTUS, since after all he is human. Hopefully, none of them will be that fatal to the U.S. But he is not George Bush, Jr. and he is not a Republican. That is enough for now for most people, including me.

Tell you what, friend - you just keep voting Republican until the day you die, and I and the majority will continue to vote Democrat until the day we all die. Everyone will be doing what they honestly think best, and that is all that can be expected.

Question though - when the GOP goes completely out of business in another decade or so, what party will command your loyalty then? Libertarians? Greens? Whigs?

People who seem to think the dems are going to be in power forever, and that Obama is guarenteed another term even though he's only 100 days into his first one seem to me like they might be suffering from that "messiah complex".

That or they're just foolish, especially given how the last dem controlled everything turned out.

Either that or they are SICK to death of Republicans - like most of the country.

I have tried both and am sick of both parties. They are about the same (Progressives) When are (the people) going to get back to the Constitution and limited Government. Which has some of my loaned and limited rights, therefore; take our power back!

Thomas Jefferson said, if you fear the Gov. that is tyranny, but if the Gov. fears the people that is liberty!

Saying that one feels great about Obama is like saying that one feels great about being in a long railroad tunnel with the headlight rushing toward them. The train is the debt he's piling up in attempting what will be, at the absolute best case, a short term recovery.

If you look at the 59-year record of debt since the end of WWII, starting with Truman’s term, the difference between the two parties’ contributions to our national debt level change considerably. Since 1946, Democratic presidents increased the national debt an average of only 3.2% per year. The Republican presidents stay at an average increase of 9.7% per year. Republican Presidents out borrowed and spent Democratic presidents by a three to one ratio. Putting that in very real terms; for every dollar a Democratic president has raised the national debt in the past 59 years Republican presidents have raised the debt by $2.99.

At the very worst, the only criticism the GOP can level at Obama is that he is acting like one of them - A "TAX AND SPEND" REPUBLICAN (actually Republicans don't tax, they just spend.).

How do you know that what you think is the headlight of another train is not actually the light streaming in from the end of the tunnel? After all, when you've been in the dark tunnel for a while, they will tend to both look the same. :p

And?

You may have a point if you knew for a fact that I didn't object to Bush's deficit spending. However there is a HUGE difference between Bush's deficit spending and Obama's. Bush's was on things that have an end point, although one that is not as well defined as anyone would like, and Obama's is on things that once they get started, will be nearly impossible to stop.

Not saying that I like Bush's deficit spending any more than Obama's, just saying that at least its on things that will eventually end.

It's an undeniable fact that even with a recovery and boom to the economy far better that anyone could possibly predict, that our children will be paying for what Obama is spending this year alone. That sounds like an oncomming train to me.

I'm not a Republican. I would rather eat a horned frog backwards than be associated with them, or any political party for that matter. The "Indy" in my profile doesn't mean that I like the Colts (Though I do, but I digress).

But to answer your question anyway, no party will command my loyalty. They are utterly unable to gain my favor enough for me to refer to myself as one, so the question is moot anyway. As it stands, there are a few parties that encompass some of my views (classical liberalism covers a big chunk of it), and they will be utilized for as long as they prove to be useful. When they are no longer so, they will be tossed aside with no more emotion than if I was squashing an insect. At least the insect has a purpose. Political parties? I pity anyone who identifies themselves by such a title, because it proves they are weak-willed and will sacrifice their ideals just to fit in.
