Saw this the other day. I thought it was good.

...You become a writer not by desiring to be a writer, reading books about writing, going to seminars and creative writing workshops, hanging around on literary blogs, reading good literature, or saying at dinner parties that you have always thought that you might like to write. It doesn't matter how long you sit in trendy cafés with a latte and a laptop, or how many times you write down ideas for a story in your black Moleskine notebook. There is only one way to become successful at writing, and that is to ... actually do it.

Hi, I'm Sean... I'm single but courting a wonderful woman of God (Amy). Meanwhile, I work here in East London trying to pay bills and save for the future. I love writing. I was first published a few years ago, all within one year of being determined to break into print. I had some success--even made some decent money from my fiction short stories. I, like many of you, have aspirations to get a novel published, though I feel under-qualified. Unfortunately, I am not active in producing new stories or really trying to finish the novels finished or half-finished on my computer. But maybe someday...

For me, doing it is key. Secondly, reading others who are better than yourself. Recently, I've been reading books by Lloyd C. Douglas who wrote so wonderfully in the first half of the 20th century. In the past, some of my own writing has benefited from being exposed to good writing.

Its nice to meet each of you!

~Sean

 I'm 20 and single, and I'm finishing up my writing degree. When I graduate, I want to get a job in publishing as a copyeditor and I want to get a novel published.

Sounds a lot like me - almost exactly, actually :D Except I'm only about halfway done with my degree. I want to work in publishing and write novels on the side.

Hi, I'm Jenna and I'm 28. I'm married with 2 little ones! Kathryn attends Kindergarten at the church's preschool - Luci will do so next year. But this year, it's me and Luci at home during the day.
That does leave me some time to write, but I am usually working on devotions and nonfictions for publication instead of the fiction pieces I have saved up to work on... :)

Good to meet all of you!
