Please could we stop having this pingpong fight, and if you have the time JohnDeere, could you please expand, with scripture refs, on your position, for the benefit of those who haven't read your posts on whatever the other thread you posted on was.

It may be that we have not understood the scriptures in the proper light...so, even should we continue to disagree with you, we all still may learn something nonetheless.
Thanks

Could you give me an example, please?
Westboro Baptist Church for one.

The various Baptist churches that are members of Baptist Conventions that encourage the proselytizing of Orthodox Christians in Russia, Europe and the Middle East.

Westboro Baptist Church for one.

They're not Baptists. They call themselves Baptists but they don't adhere to any of the Baptist distinctives and they do not hold to the sound doctrine that marks a church as a Christian church.

Nice try, though.

And what's the problem with preaching the Gospel?

Riiiight here:

To those who are already Christians? It would seem to be a misdirected effort.
The Gospel has been to Eastern Europe, Russia and the Middle East longer than any Baptist convention around. Why undo the efforts of those who did not base their whole theology on a badly done protest?

How do you know they're Christians? Because they belong to a denomination? Belonging to a denomination doesn't make you a Christian anymore than belonging to AAA makes you a car.

There are people in every denomination who's names are found on church rolls but not found in the Lamb's Book of Life and they need the Gospel just as much as any other lost person.

No one will be able to hide behind a denomination when they stand before God.

no, not really. The gospel is always profitable and, at least for me, always lifts me... it is my heart and soul
Aye, but we're talking about sending missionaries. You can't send them everywhere at once. Wouldn't it be more effective to send them to areas that haven't heard the gospel?

Hearing the Gospel preached may just maybe touch one person there that has not heard the Gospel preached but has been going to church and believes himself to be a christian but is not born again. Many a people out there that say they believe in Jesus when they only believe that He came to earth to die for their sins but do not know Him on a personal basis and scripture teaches us that God is into relationship..

see below & so... with that in mind, we should not preach the gospel in church because it would be a waste of time (that is unless we get a visitor...???)

And once again, American ignorance of anything in Eastern Europe shows its ugly head...

:sigh:

Why send "new" missionaries, who are in complete contradiction to what has been present for millenia, instead of supporting those already there? Why should the Baptists send Baptist missionaries to Russia instead of supporting the existing Russian Orthodox Church?

Oh wait, I forgot. The Russian Orthodox Church, due to its being older than any Baptist organization, must immediately be deemed "un-Christian" by the Baptists. Sorry, my bad.

And that's where I lost all interest in hearing anything you have to say.
Of course you didn't because you don't want to be proven wrong. And for the record ignorance doesn't mean stupid it means making a wrong decision or judgment based on not knowing the facts. And thats exactly what you did. So in the future instead of getting your information from Jimmy Joe Bob and his nephew Cooter maybe its best to go to the actual party you are making this decision about. By the way Toro makes better riding lawn mowers.:D

I hear ya, the ignorance of other people's denominations on here is MIND BLOWING. It's almost like they don't care what the actually denomination REALLY believes, all that matters to them is what they were TOLD they should believe about other Christians. It's really not that hard to learn of what other people believe, most have websites, on this forum everyone has their section you can inquire about. But NO, "I was told by my Preacher that such and such aren't Christians and they believe this and that" It really does amaze me, especially in this day of age. It's like we are living in the 1800's all over again.

I'm totally in agreement here. Personally, I would rather learn from my brothers and sisters in the RCC and all branches of the Orthodox church than try to make them out to be something they are not. But some people just are not open to learning.
