This just out today:

http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0004366

A new fossil proto-whale shows adaptations to semi-aquaticism as well as terrestrial birthing. It is named Maiacetus inuus. That's it on the bottom (C,D):

Cool stuff!

Nice try. But now there are two gaps where there used to be just one. ;)

Well that's at LEAST 6 intermediate species now, so there's actually at least 7 gaps. Evilutionists think they are making a case for their satan inspired theory but they are only making it worse.

You demonstrate your lack of comprehension of this theory.

@Mallon: This is really cool. Thank you for sharing.

I love it when life imitates art.

Something to think about; My outlandish, absurd post was actually taken to be serious by some people, and many lurkers too I'm sure. Think about why it was believable, because there are people who actually think that way. Scary. I wonder how many people read it and thought I was being a warrior for God and standing up to man made atheistic ideas.

Sheesh, we all know Poe's Law already, what are you trying to prove with another demonstration? :p

The same could be said for my post as well. Every new intermediate specie that is found fills in the gaps. Yes, there was one big gap now there are many more gaps. But your post implies that somehow these smaller gaps are more significant than the one big one. Hence, you don't understand the evolutionary theory. I am not trying to be mean nor am I trying to insult you. But this is a public forum, I have the same rights that you have to express an opinion about evolution.

Yes, I am ever conscious of the lurkers that may look at these posts. That is why I post things like the one above. Consider an individual that may be looking in on our conversation that is losing faith in God because of the evolutionary theory. They need to know that there are people out there that can hold both in tandem. Hopefully seeing a Christian posting something in favor of evolution will help them.

I was not trying to be rude, but Mallon made a post, you quipped at him and I quipped at you. I have no doubt that you are fighting for God. But you need to know that I am doing the same thing.

Oh? I don't think I have every met Philadiddle before. But I was serious. I replied to him in part for the sake of the lurkers.

Don't worry though, I won't be losing any sleep over what Philladiddle said. ;)

Sigh. I usually stay far away from this section, since the discussions are usually unfruitful for many reasons. I just can't quite get the rationale here. A fossil is found (and of course only a drawing is available as usual). One which shows a large animal with a snout full of razor sharp teeth, a long tail, four legs with sharp claws, hunts in the water and rests on land and .....bam, we have a whale.

Well this guy doesn't like being called a whale.

What do you mean "as usual"?
Most scientific descriptions of fossils include photographs of the actual specimens themselves. In fact, it's required in most reputable journals. I only posted the reconstruction here because I don't assume that most people would be able to decipher the real jumble of bones for themselves.
Here's the actual specimen:

Have you read the paper, Intercisus? Do you know why this animal is posited as being more closely related to whales than to other mammals?

More uninformed neocreationist whining. "As usual". ;)

So to prove me wrong you post yet another drawing? Yes it means a lot that EVERY article about a fossil being found puts forth a drawing or worse, a mockup like you just posted filling in with speculation about parts of an animal that were never found and cannot be found.

Yes I have read the paper, and this is exactly what I meant by my original post. Anyone who doesn't "accept with docility" the speculation of any given scientist is automatically uninformed and gets opened up to cheap shots by people like you.

It's not a drawing. It's a photo of the specimen with the bones outlined so you can see them better.
The paper also provides the specimen number (GSP-UM 3475) so that any researcher can see the specimen for themselves in person and make their own interpretations. What more could you ask for?

With all due respect, Intercisus, you have no idea what you're talking about.
Here's a couple of pictures of recently described fossils that were included in their publications:

Titanoboa:

Odontochelys:

What examples are you thinking of, specifically? Let's have some citations.

Cheap shots? . If you had read the paper, you would have noticed there were several photos of the original material published without overlays. Like this one:
fetchObject.action

or this one:
fetchObject.action

So why are you complaining that "only a drawing is available as usual"? That's a lie.

That is not a drawing, that is a photo with color enhancements so the fossils are more easily seen. There are pictures without the color enhancement in the article if you wish to look at them too.

Since you did not know this and just assumed it was a drawing, I am going to have to assume you are lying about reading the article since it is clearly stated what these pictures are in the article.

Do not lie for Jesus, it kind of destroys the whole point of Christianity.

Wow. Two separate people have now straight out called me a liar simply for stating that I have a problem with drawings, especially with overlays of stuff that doesn't exist, being presented in lieu of actual images of the fossils. This is where I'll be unsubscribing. You guys can believe whatever you like, but it's flat out wrong to put forth a skeleton of something that in no way whatsoever resembles a whale and does in fact have every attribute of a modern crocodile and accuse anyone who notices such as "lying for Jesus".

Yes I have read the paper

You either lied about reading the paper or lied about there being no photographs of the specimen in the paper. Either way, you lied.
