Jesus christ made some profound statements throughout His most blessed ministry as regarding how many people are saved..Lets look at some of them, as well as some other biblical writers..
lk 12:
32Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Now, remember, all scripture is profitabe for doctrine, intsruction, correction reproof and righteousness..this applies to the verses i will be showing you in addition to the above..
Gods flock[The saved], is always small or little in comparison to the worlds population at any given time..
Matt 7:
13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
lk 13:
23Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 24Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
Its no doubt, that Jesus christ intimated this awesome truth to His followers while with them in the ministry..That only few be saved..
matt 24:
37But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
lk 17:
28Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. 30Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
Now, go figure..what were the percentage of those saved from the wrath of God during the days of those two patriarchs ?
Peter writes of noahs day..1 pet 3:
20Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
Eight souls were saved during the generation of noah from the flood..Now some world scholars who studied population, and particularily the population of the world by the time of the flood, it is surmised that over 200 million people were on earth at the time of noah..
see http://ldolphin.org/popul.html
Now, lets suppose this is accurate give or take a few million, what is the percentage of 8 people being saved out of 200 million ?
Lets cut the figure in half, to 100 million, 8 people out of 100 million, what percentage of the world population would have been saved during the time of noah on the whole earth ? That would be 0.00000008 of the worlds population was saved during the time of the flood..
The current world population is write under 7 billion at 0688216705 see
http://www.ibiblio.org/lunarbin/worldpop
Now, what is 0.00000008 percent of this figure ? I am sure its some astronomically low number..
So, taking all that biblical revelation has to say in consideration, at this current time in world history..far less than 1 % of the population is saved..
The odds of one being saved is smaller than one has to win the Lottery for millions of dollars..
Now its understandable why Jesus uttered these words, or will utter shortly these words..
Matt 7:
22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
