I am concerned that Paul does not see the need for change on this board right now. I can only hope that such change will take place eventually. This board has changed from a world-wide board to a US one, from one in which various faith groups could talk to one another (albeit sometimes loudly :D ) to one in which US Evangelical / Fundamentalism is the basal POV.

Happy (belated) birthday, Paul!

I agree, though I can understand feeling the need for a period of stability before making policy changes.

I happen to be an American from a conservative evangelical church, but I don't consider that the only valid form of Christianity, and I very much appreciate having a place to dialogue with my adelphoi from other nations and other traditions. CF has sadly deteriorated in its ability to be that place.

Paul is a new owner... I think that we should give him the time and space to decide for himself according to what he sees here. WE are all kind of biased of what this site represents from our personal expreiences, negative and positive. Also how can anyone "control" the membership? Whoever comes in this site and likes it stays... it is that simple. Maybe the majority is American Evangelicals since they represent the majority that participates in that kind of internet ministry.... I fail to see how the new owner "can ensure" equal membership or "control" it... There is always room for improvement and all but one has to identify the problem areas first and then proceed...

Being the owner of CF carries an awesome responsibility- the site is a beacon that broadcasts the message of Christianity to a world-wide audience. And vice-versa, people world-wide look at this site to see what Christians and Christianity are all about. For some, it is the only Christian fellowship they can get.

Given this reality, the site requires all the prayer we can possibly give it.

I might agree with that except for one thing--"inreach".

Less a beacon broadcasting a message and more a flashlight shining into a mirror.

Oh, and hi, Paul.

How's it going for you, Paul?

things are busy with the site migration and making sure everything will change over smoothly.

i see the need for change, if we are not prayerfully changing, we are not growing. however, i feel that in the best interest of the community, we do not change right now as the community has experienced a lot of changes already. ;)

much of this is true, i cannot control who stays and who goes. i can influence policy here, but like i said, that is not going to change in the near future. this is not the only way to get people to the site and stay. what i can do, and hope to effectively accomplish in the next 5-6 months is a lot of search engine optimization (seo) on this board. basically what that means is help search engines to better find, index, and bring people here so that more can enjoy it.

true and as we get more visitors, i hope they come and interact w/ the great people of CF and find relationship w/ Christ and fellowship w/ believers.

Paul, as things stand, a great many of us are not allowed, by CF's rules, to interact with the great people of CF. The policy of inreach resulted in the closing off of Christians from non-Christians, disabled the ability to discuss theology and philosophy, and sorely hurt a very large number of people, many of whom left, Christian and non-Christian, which is why you have acquired a board so narrowly focussed and so reduced in visitors.

I wish you well, and hope you will consider reversing this unfortunate trend in the near future.

I agree that this forum has been through a lot of changes and there are probably as many opinions as to how to improve/modify CF as there are people who have left...

I agree that the focus should be to restore functions first...

Will there be a future thread at some point to discuss potential policy changes/ modifications ???

Hopefully Paul will spend some time interacting significantly in various areas here getting to know us and letting us get to know him...

God Bless,
Ty
