My friends,

Please welcome a friend of mine, Paul Kim, as the new owner of CF. You all very well know that I am so very busy with business, church ministry, and my family. This has prevented me from being as active as I would have liked to have been here on CF. This led me to run it by a good friend of mine (Paul) and see if he had interest in taking the reigns of CF.

To give you some background on how Paul and I came to be friends, let me share some. It all started over 2 years ago when I was selling another community, ChristianGuitar.org. He came to me as a possible buyer who had never owned any type of website. We met, connected, he liked what he saw, and he agreed to acquire the site. It was nice as he was a super guy and I was able to help guide him along this new path of community ownership as he got his feet wet. Now, 2 years+ later, he is doing ever so well and he was my obvious choice as candidate for CF. We have been friends for a couple of years now, met multiple times, and enjoyed good fellowship. I know he will be better for CF, more active than I could have dreamed to been, and a solid leader for CF's future.

While I am happy to hand off CF in to such good hands, I will very much miss being a part of this place. Mostly, I will miss being a part of leadership, working with the great team behind CF. My main work here has always been with the Advisors and it has been a real pleasure of mine to work with such a neat bunch of folks. :groupray:

So please welcome Paul and get to know a guy who I have come to really like / appreciate over the past couple of years!

hi everyone, i look forward to getting to know you in the coming months. i am sure you have a lot of questions to ask, and i want to welcome those and will answer them to the best of my ability.

to let you know a bit about myself...i am married but dont have any kids yet. as my wife and i were praying about coming on board here, we sensed that the timing was right and had a great peace about being here.

i am humbled that an opportunity like this was afforded to me, and i hope to live up to what the previous owners of the site have set as an example.

Questions and Answers section
(added by Synger)

These are some Qs/As that have been asked by the members and answered by Paul in this thread. I will continue to update this section.

Are there going to be any major changes in the guidelines and policies of the site?
no, i dont plan on any major changes. this community has been through a lot in 2008. i hope that 2009 can be a time of stability and growth.
If i could make one suggestion it would be to have more than one tech or atleast have the one tech working more than 6 hrs a week, we are still waiting for stuff from 2 owners ago to reappear...no rush..but seriously think about some TECH help..we'd all appreciate it.
my tech guy knows "the list" of things that need to be done and thinks he can knock it out in a couple of months time. i also have some back up for him should he need it. we do not have nearly as many sites to deal with as lee does, so he should be pretty dedicated to working on CF until most of the stuff is out of the way.
In the past, as any website that focuses on understanding between all Christians...we have sometimes had our times of greater or lesser dispute on things. One thing that is of concern whenever there is a new owner is the question: Are Catholics Christians?
i hope this does not sound like a cop out to you. that is not what i am trying to do. at this point, knowing what CF has been through in the past year i am not making any policy changes anytime in the near future.

to be honest, my belief in one topic or another is irrelevant at this point. this community needs to be taken care of and ministered to...that is my priority. i sense that is my role, and also feel strongly that this is a time to stabilize and grow. no one is on a short leash or is going to be run off.
I wondered if you will continue to own / operate ChristianGuitar.org, along with CF?
yes, i will. they are a great bunch over there and care about them very much.
Is this mainly a business or an outreach opportunity for you, Paul?
i really do look at this as an opportunity for Christians to connect in a meaningful way. i saw a lot of the traffic numbers and have lurked around in the past couple of years around the forum to see what was going on. this is an incredible place and wanted to be a part of being able to rebuild this place.
Could you tell us a little bit about your faith? Beliefs? Home church? Christian experiences?
i believe in relationship with Christ and knowing him from now till eternity, i believe i was saved about 20 years ago when my father introduced me to Christ, and have been walking and learning to better walk with him ever since. i believe in living in community with other believers and being Christ to the world around me. i have grown up in the church. my father was/is a pastor my whole life. i have served in a myriad of capacities, and currently serve w/ my dad as a teacher for a sunday school.
What will you be doing to make CF more inclusive and more open to honest discussion and once again make it a place to exchange ideas, fellowship, discuss topics with views from around the world, and generally make it once again more of a real global community?
for now there will be no policy changes. this site needs to stabilize and be worked on (in terms of features). this community has been through too much over the last year.
I am concerned that Paul does not see the need for change on this board right now. I can only hope that such change will take place eventually.
i see the need for change, if we are not prayerfully changing, we are not growing. however, i feel that in the best interest of the community, we do not change right now as the community has experienced a lot of changes already.
I fail to see how the new owner "can ensure" equal membership or "control" it... There is always room for improvement and all but one has to identify the problem areas first and then proceed...
much of this is true, i cannot control who stays and who goes. i can influence policy here, but like i said, that is not going to change in the near future. this is not the only way to get people to the site and stay. what i can do, and hope to effectively accomplish in the next 5-6 months is a lot of search engine optimization (seo) on this board. basically what that means is help search engines to better find, index, and bring people here so that more can enjoy it.
Will there be a future thread at some point to discuss potential policy changes/ modifications ??? Hopefully Paul will spend some time interacting significantly in various areas here getting to know us and letting us get to know him...
i will communicate in advance if there are any policy changes/modifications, and i do hope to interact w/ the membership here in different areas of the forum
I disagree about the "opening up"all forums for Christians and non-christians.
there are many opinions on this, and i hope that if there is a policy change on this in the future, we would do it with a prayerful attitude.

Welcome, Pauler! You have quite the job on your hands. Nonetheless, CF is a joy for those who welcome a challenge, and who seek a way to serve the Lord in a way which is sure to cultivate patience, wisdom, and humility. :amen:

The personalities within this site are diverse, joyful and (dare I say it) more than willing to help you bring this site to a place in keeping with your vision for it.

Rigs, I had 9/9/9, so it's not me.

I sent this in a pm to you Pauler but then thought, his box is probably pretty full.

I'm going to post links to this thread in a lot of the other forums with the title, "CF Has New Owner." It will help get the word out faster.

God bless and once again, welcome!
