I'm having trouble putting my little one in her crib at night. I've been letting her sleep in her bassinet since last month & started letting her sleep in my bed for a few weeks (one week was while we were out of town which started the whole thing). Now she is flipping over & I'm scared to put her in there thinking of SIDS. She can't flip from her stomach to her back yet. I know she won't cry from being away from me it's more of a safety issue. Anyone else go thru this?

Jonathan has always been a belly sleeper. Even when he was first here. He just does not sleep well unless he is on his side or belly... so we talked with the midwife and she said sometimes there are kids that way, and the only thing you can do is make sure there are no bumpers near them... blankets are flat (the sheet to the crib) and you have them in a sleep sack but "never, ever, ever co-sleep" (which is what we do. LOL).

Sooooooo I only know to say to ask your pedi and trust your gut.

She just started this and sometimes she will have her face nose first in the mattress is what concerns me. There is no way she will sleep in a sack. :) She kicks covers off as it is. I wake up at the slight bit of movement and that is bothering me too because if I have her in her crib there is no way of knowing if she is ok.

I can't remember how old she is. My babies so far have been 6-8 months when they decide that belly sleeping is for them and that's that. Even though they roll sooner it takes a while before they decide they are absolutely going to sleep that way. My pediatrician said it was okay once they did it themselves like that.

How old is she?

When my kids were still small enough for sleeping in the bassinette they were still wrapped (swaddled) and couldn't roll anywhere. But if she doesn't like a sleeping sack, then she probably won't like being wrapped.

What about one of those wedge things? But then I've heard they've been linked to SIDS as well.

Honestly if she is rolling that way herself then it is probably OK. I can understand the worry though.

Do you have an anglecare monitor? Basically, it monitors their movements. If she doesn't move/breathe for 20 seconds, it sets off an alarm. It also alarms if it is too cold/hot, if the monitor is running out of batteries or getting bad reception, etc. If is also a sound monitor so you would be able to here if she is getting upset or making struggling noises. Maggie has been flipping herself over in the crib and a couple of times, was face down in spit-up AAHHHH. I figured it out something was wrong downstairs because she was making little whining noises and the monitor was picking her up loud and clear.

She sleeps in her crib right next to us, and we still use the monitor. It nice just knowing that we can sleep a little harder. It will also make the transition from our room to her's easier. Also, when she's a toddler, we'll be able to tell if she gets out of her bed in the middle of the night.

Their about $70 and worth every penny.

She's 4 1/2 mnths. & flips like a fish literally. :) She is all over the place now. When I have her in the bed with me she ends up squirming everywhere & I'm getting no sleep. The other day I put her in her crib & low & behold she had gotten her foot stuck in between the slats of the crib while on her belly. Now I'm thinking the bumper pads I took out may be useful.

Bumper Pads are very useful for some...for us they didn't work because my ds was a squirmer and would wiggle his head between the bumper and the crib....that scared me. I think part of it was our crib design though it didn't allow for my bumpers to be tied at top and bottom and our bumpers weren't very good the strings were short. When you put the bumpers in just be sure that they are securely tied all the way around the crib.
