that's a first. i've never heard anyone say that before...

spirituality has nothing to do with race. it has everything to do with relationship.

if we look at it that way, then we take something spiritual and turn it into carnality.

i'm black but when it comes to spiritual things i dont care about what race the person is. all i care about is do they know God? do they know the Word? can they feed my spirit? that's what's important, not their race. God doesn't respect us according to our race so why should we?

Love,
~jazzy

I thought I'd throw that one in.....it is often said...but how true is it ?

I've never heard this before, so I'm not really sure how often this is or isn't said. I guess I'm kinda wondering exactly what you mean by 'spiritual'.

No. They are NOT afraid to show their emotions when they are spiritual in Church. They are showing "LOVE" through Spirit. When a Christian who is saved by the conviction of the Holy Spirit and if we didn't feel the conviction and didn't have the motivation to change from "within", then we should be concerned whether we are truly saved or not. "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."

I am very spiritual but I am not as emotional.

Where I live it would be considered a racist remark.

LOL !!

Well I frequent Tottenham. Brixton and Peckham a lot, and they would embrace me as a long lost brother if i said that.

I personally have been to some high powered Black Churches that have all the outward signs that the Spirit is moving. But methinks that a lot of it is emotion, although some is genuine i'm sure.

I like Black people, what you see is what you get in the main, unless they wear that "self righteous" religious mask that is soon removed once they get indoors:D

All cultures suffer from that one ;)

BTW - I will add this - you rarely see a Black Church go under, and if its mis-guided loyalty so be it, but in London - even if a minister falls they come back stronger and the congregation can increase in size not decrease.

London stats tell us that 70% of all churches have black Churchgoers, without them, the Muslims would be taking over much quicker.

FACT:)

No. Race has nothing to do with spirituality. If you mean, are black churches more “loud” than white churches, then, yes, that might be true. But spirituality is not measured in decibels.

I don't know how people can say they never heard this before because I've heard it thousands of times. Not sure when it started but I would guess during their slaves days and when they became believers in Jesus Christ. They began to sing spirituals and because of the style they sang in many people began to think that they were really spiritual people.

In the 1960s there rose up soul music and it was said that black people have alot of soul, and this is what I you're really talking about. Black people have a way of expressing what is in their soul differently from all other races and cultures. They generally put alot more feeling into it whether it's in a song or dance or simply talking. So it really isn't that they are more spiritual than anybody else but they're able to express what is in their soul alot easier or in different ways than anybody else.

I would agree that blacks are more expressive in the U.S. culture, however, as someone who grew up going to schools that had blacks as a majority, I would say from my observation over the years that it would be completely untrue that blacks as a race are more spiritual than any other race.

I actually would say the problem with most of the black kids I knew then was they were unspiritual, hence all the troubles in my school. (Yes I Went to MPS Neph)

From my vantage point race has nothing to do with spirituality. In fact most whites I know are spiritual to some degree, they just express it much more conservativelythan your average black person.

No mater what color someone is on the outside our hearts are all the same color and I believe "spirituality" comes from the heart therefore in my opinion what color you are on the outside has no bearing on how spiritual you are or are not...

I think I looked at this a different way.

You seem to be discussing this as race differences in your own country.

I was talking more cultural as in , if you go to somewhere like indonesia, india or somewhere like that where traditions are different.

No sure if I am putting this right.
Sorry if it sounds confusing.

Um, I agree, perhaps you missed this?

I was at a Conference in London and we were amazed that in a nation which is majority white only about 10% attending a Christian Conference were white.

I'm with you on that one. Praise the Lord for all the black Christians immigrating to London! I often go down to London to visit with my cousin, most of the Christians in London now are black, without them, there wouldnt be much of a church. In 2006 I saw Benny Hinn at the Excel Centre in London, 99.9999% of the people there were black. In fact, I think me and Benny were the only non-Africans.

What you mean as 'more spiritual' I would describe that they are not as lukewarm as British Christians.
