Greetings,

I am asking for your opinions about my friends habit. I am aware that you probably do not know my friend; nor has anyone commenting on this topic been present around what he does.

My friend whom, I will call Saul has a long criminal history of smoking marijuana. He even wound up in prison for about six months, recently.
He claims he stopped doing dope in 2005. In 2006, he was busted with a friend we will label Bald Joel. Saul maintains he was not smoking pot however, he allowed Bald Joel to smoke pot in his car. The police caught them in this fashion and, due to Saul's third defaulting on his probation, he received a prison sentence.

After returning home, Saul initially spoke of staying away from Bald Joel, I can't remember whether he said permanently or for a while. At any rate, Saul hooked back up with Bald Joel, in August 2007. Saul told me Bald Joel became fugitive for defaulting on his probation or something? Saul felt sorry for BJ becauss he lost his wife. She did not die but rather, pushed him to the curb of divorce. Then, after a few months, October '07, Saul cut off BJ saying he was busted for drunk driving. Saul also admitted that he gave Bald Joel too much credit.

Now, December 2008 -two weeks ago, while talking about people and things, Saul mentioned and asked me if remembered BJ. I answered positively and asked him "So you made up your differences with Bald Joel?" Saul said he did. Bald Joel appearently just got out of jail.

My friend is Saul. I do not know Bald Joel, I have only talked to BJ once while I bumped into Saul at some place I was leaving. I DO NOT hang around drug users.

Is Saul still smoking marijuana? Has Saul said things that are untrue?

God Bless,

Hector Medina

I don't know if he is or isn't, but it's not a good sign that he's staying in touch with BJ.

I'd show him this (unlike alcohol, marijuana isn't chemically addictive -- but the points of the article remain relevant) and encourage him to break away from BJ.

That about.com info is good.

Yes, Saul's continued association with Bald Joel is not good. Not good for him, especially. That was one thing that motivated me to start this thread.

He maintains that he no longer stones. Last week, when I was with Saul, he spoke of his cigarette smoking habit. He mentioned that, while it is bad for him, he can't get in trouble doing it. Smoking is something he has been tried to quit before. Saul drinks too, but not too much he says. Saul is aware that he has HBP, and is on medication for it. Smoking, among the other things he does, raises his blood pressure. He is overweight, eats fast food everyday, late night eating, and does not take care of himself.

He is very nice to me and is externally a good friend. Internally, I hope.

Jesus get in Saul's heart.

Medina? I knew a Medina once. He was short and ballsy. Go ask your pal if he is still hanging out with BJ. Watch his eyes and act accordingly.

He probably is. Why do you care so long as he isn't putting the heat on you?

Nix him if its too much to deal with. I would. The US Marine Corporal Medina I knew and loved in a manly way would too.

Initially he was put in jail.

After defaulting on his probation three times, he was sent to prison. After he was released from prison he completed his parole last April. For the first time in about eight years, he voted and was called to jury duty.

-Hector

the fact that you can be sent to prison just for smoking marijuana in this country is simply outrageous.

Anyway your question is impossible to answer for people who don't know any of the people involved. You'd know better than we would. If i had to guess i'd say yes.
