change my heart?

Hey everyone, I wanted to ask a question. Has anyone else here ever asked God to change their heart so that it would love Him and want to serve Him? I have found myself asking God to give me a heart that desires Him and wants to be saved and know it. Anybody else been there,done that?

yes Kicker, and He will honor your prayer because thats what He wants too!
He knows us better than we know ourselves and remember love is not always a warm gooshy {yes i wrote gooshy} feeling! The Bible tells us what love is.....1 Corin. 13:4-8.
We can not have this love until we fully grasp the love that Christ has for us.....
John 15:9 tells us that Jesus says......AS THE FATHER HAS LOVED ME, SO HAVE I LOVED YOU,CONTINUE IN MY LOVE.
Jesus loves us the same as His Father, our Father loves Him......is that mind blowing or what?!
Take it Kicker by faith whether you feel it or not, believe what He says.....We can not give what we do not have.....He will supply all our needs.......He is patient with our slowness, don't rush to fix it, just trust Him!!!!
Not that i have gotten there either, but i am learning, day by day, hour by hour and often minute by minute!!

Same here, and guess what. It has been happening. But, it is happening on his terms and in his way for sure. May you be blessed on your journey Kicker. Quannie put it in much better terms. My mind is over taxed, but I had to respond. God will give you what you can handle and show many things to you as time progresses. He is all powerful. Hard thing to remember is that we cannot fight his will

Hey Kicker,

I have been asking God for that exact thing. There are times when I feel He isn't listening to me and won't do it, but recently some things have happened that shows me that He has heard me and wants my heart to be for Him. Just remember to trust Him and know that He will sustain you.

I pray that prayer all the time. I pray that He will help me believe, desire Him, follow Him. Recognizing that we can't even believe God (let alone love Him) without the power of the Holy Spirit, shows just how trashed our hearts are by our nature. Therefore, it is appropriate to admit who we are to God (really to ourselves because He already knows - yet loves us --wow!), and petition Him for mercy, faith, and the desire for faith. Keep praying. I agree with "Q" that it won't always be a feeling, which I think shows that you have faith. Marc

I pray that prayer all the time, because that is the desire of my heart to be more like Jesus. I want him to change my heart to be more like His!! These are the lyrics to one of my favorite songs describing my desire:

He is patient with our slowness, don't rush to fix it, just trust Him!!!!

Very wise words. God taught me a lesson in rushing His work in me, especially in changing my heart.

When we rush it we are not putting our full trust in Him. Alot of times we feel "I need this now or...God will not love me" Or something similar.

As Quannie says He is patient and not only patient but longsuffering. Which is a beautiful part of God.

As others say, He has no problems changing your heart, filling you with HIS desires. It is not an overnight thing. Alot of us must go through many trials and sufferings for it. When God changes us it is a life long process.

Psalm 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Psalm 2:12 "......Blessed are all they that put their trust in him."
