What do you think this parable spoken by Jesus in Matthew 13:18-23 means?

"Therefore hear the parable of the sower:

When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.

But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

When you become a christian, you have to keep enough time to pray, to praise the Lord and read the bible, unless the world will fill this time for you. You have to grow and become stronger everyday. If not, you can ask yourself questions.
You have also to share your faith with your relatives and neighbors.

I'm sorry I would like to quote the Bible but in English it is a little difficult for me. I'm thinking about a chapter in Peter but I don't remeber well --about growing and not having just milk--.

When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.

This person was not meant for salvation.  The word fell and did not grow in him, thus he was given to satan.

But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

This person heard the word and it sounded good to him.  He became excited and ran with it, but was also not intended for salvation.  He did not use the word and build a solid foundation of prayer, meditation, study and knowledge.  As soon as life was not peachy or temptation provoked him to sin, he fell away.

Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

This person is meant for salvation and is saved.  However he cares more for the world and the things in it, neglecting God's word and being lazy in his service to Christ.  He is not blessed because of this lax attitude he does not grow and shows not the fruits of a christian.

But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

This one gives it all to God.  He delights in the law of the Lord, meditating day and night upon Him and His word.  He learns and prays and serves to show others what Christ has done for him.  He is greatly blessed and is full of joy and love.  His fruit is evident to all around him.

No, in case 1 the word fell on deaf ears.  In case 2 the word fell on ears that hear only the structure and morality of the law.  They only obeyed for a short time because they were attracted to the fellowship, the friendships or maybe it gave them the structure they longed for, but didn't have otherwise.

In case 3, they are saved and they stay saved.  Though they do not enjoy as many blessings and as much joy through service as others because they put their wordly desires first and do not give it all to God.

A person saying, Iaccept Christ" is not what saves them, nor are the works they do afterwards.  Many will say, "Lord, Lord did I not cast out demons in Your name?"  And  He will say, "Be gone from me, I never knew you."  It is the changing of the heart that only God can do that makes you a true child of God.

I disagree.

I've always been taught that only one was saved in the parable, and i find it reasonable !! How can a plant survive among thorns ? It will die !!!

I think a true christian will repent sooner or later of his doing wordly things. I cannot be as affirmative as Gabriel is, because only God can decide whether a man is his child or not. A true christian cannot stand living in the world like the world. It is simply not normal.

You're right. Upon further study and consideration I would submit that the first three are unsaved. As christians we are compelled to do God's work. these are the fruits of the spirit. No spirit, no fruits. I stand corrected.

In Mark, Jesus gives a detailed explanation. And it is so true - some people you talk to are hard as a rock, you can almost hear the seeds of the Word drop on the rocky soil; others readily accept, and easily forget; and still others would openly tell you - yeah, all this Christianity stuff sounds good, but I'm too busy to get into it.
