 Hi! Umm, well, I came here as a Witch and now I am wanting to be a Christian. I used to be a "Christian", but a very bad one, one would never accuse me of being Christ-like, I can promise you. Now I want to change, I want to be like Him, but I don't know where to begin or how to build a strong foundation. My husband and I used to attend a good church, we're going back next week, which is good. However, how do I study the Bible? Where do I begin? :help:

DF77 - Yes we all tend to wander but many of those who wander are not lost - and neither are you. I sense you are a seeker and God honours that quest.

Don't worry where to begin - you have already begun - by going back to church. That's a start. Perhaps some prayer might be in order. Lay it out for God, the good, the bad and the ugly.

Yes, the Gospel of John is a good place to begin Bible reading. But remember, things will have changed for you. You will see things from a different perspective because of those experiences elsewhere. This is your journey, as is every other journey - it's very personal. What God has in store for you will be different for me. Don't limit God by your expectation about how 'things should be'.

Talk to the Church's leaders. You will gain a sense of where that church is going. Help out where you see a need or where you see you can contribute. There is much to be done.

Simple prayer, Father God, direct me to a good fellowship of Christians that will help me learn about You, in Jesus name Amen. I like to start off each day with a cd I made of my favorite praise songs. Just reach to God, He'll reach in. :) So glad for you. *hugs*

Hi, DragonFaery77!

I would recommend finding a mentor who can give you some feedback and interaction they can help you work out a plan for getting to know God better.
If you don't find someone in the church, you could PM Alive4EevermMore as she offered above.
She can probably give you some specific ideas.

Praying for you.

DragonFaery77,

Nothing fills my heart with more joy than hearing that somebody has found his or her way to the Lord again! My recommendation would be to find somebody (and it sounds like your husband might just be that somebody) with whom you can sit down and devote some time to reading the Word of God. The Lord knows that your intentions are good, and rest assured that He will give you all that you need to study His Word.

I would suggest that you find some people with whom you can talk about the bible; make it part of your life. You'd be surprised how quickly you can turn your life around just by basing your life off of the Good Word of the Lord. I -- along with many others here at CF -- am very willing to help you out with any questions you might have about the bible and its mysteries.

Please never hesitate to contact me via PM on this site. I am more than willing to help you out! I love working with people and look forward to giving them whatever sort of guidance I can.

Good luck to you. Stay safe. And God bless!

Yours in Christ,

James

Thank you all so much! Okay, well, I've started reading James but haven't read the Bible in a few days. I'm going home tomorrow and I've been preparing to see my husband for the first time in three months. Our marriage has been rocky during that time, but I believe it's what we both needed. I needed to find myself and he needed to learn to believe in himself, now we're ready to grow up, be good parents to our son, and work together as a team instead of trying to have our own way all the time. :sigh: At least that's what I'm praying for...

I came out of New Age and I just asked God if he was real, to send someone to me to help me find a church and the next day I was at a Save-on store and was just talking to someone and they invited me to their church. Talk about answered prayer and a divine appt. I would say spend some time with the Lord and seek him and ask him questions and talk to him as if he is your best friend. He will speak to you, sometimes by the radio or in a still small voice, or through a friend or person answering a question. I would ask God to forgive me for dealing in witchcraft, if you haven't already, and renounce satan and his works, and tell God that you only want to serve him. I would say read the word, new testiment first, James is for trials, and make sure that you clean out your house and get everything out that you may still have that is demonic or satanic and burn it. If you don't that can be a open door for satan to enter into and I would have your child or children dedicated to the Lord and pray over them or let the church do that. I pray that God bless you and lead, guide, and direct you and protect you.

It's wonderful to want to be Christ-like, but what's even better is to want a Savior. Reading the bible is a great start for soaking up God's Word to know Him and how He has saved us from our sins so that we may have eternal life! It's not just about how we live our lives, because how we live our lives is the aftermath of salvation...focus on Christ, the cross and the forgiveness of sins and your life will start to change :)
