Because it is morally objectionable for an ape/human marriage.

So your answer to the question "Why is it immoral?" is "Because it is morally objectionable"? Er, that's not an answer, that's just restating the question.

Why would a marriage between a sentient, consenting ape and a human being be morally objectionable?

Well you think that way but I think it is very myopic. Personally I believe in equal rights for everyone including gays. I don't believe it should come at the expense of marriage, however, and other things should be done to correct social inequalities.
"at the expense of marriage"? what does that even mean? can you produce one shred of real evidence that allowing gays to marry will hurt hetero marriage?

From my point of view it is sad that so many people here on this forum can not comprehend the concept of "moral conscience." They just don't have a clue that people find certain things morally objectionable after a reasonable and honest search within their own soul.
the problem is, you and everyone who posts here against gay marriage show no signs that you did a reasonable and honest search.
but you and others just parrot the anti-gay party line that gays are going to destroy everything as we know it if they are allowed to get married.

That's the way I feel about gay-marriage, that it's really no marriage at all, and legalizing it doesn't make it any more moral than abortion.
that's fine keep your opinion, no one wants to force you to change it, we love it if you changed your mind, but no one will force you.
but that's not the problem, the problem is you and people who agree with you want to make laws based on your opinion, not on whats best for this country

I'm sure you disagree with me, and have your preconceived sterotypical view of me. The majority of the people in this country don't want gay marriage, and it's not for bigotry.
i don't base my views on stereotypes sorry to disappoint you, i do base my views on what you say though.
you like a lot of people seem to think that since the majority voted against it, it means it not bigotry
but it is bigotry, mob bigotry and just as the founders wanted, we will repeal this stupid amendment.

This is just another browbeating tactic from the gay-left, to have everyone believe this. You can not understand it any other way, and that's why your view is destined to fail -- it is totally intolerant of a differing opinion.
sorry, but your views are based on attacking innocent people, your bigotry is unjustified. we are right in being intolerant of bigotry. bigotry is never just and hiding it behind the claim of a differing opinion is weak and cowardly

Doesn't matrimony according to the Bible also include God? Why do non-Christians and atheists get to have marriages and call it marriage right along with the Christians but gays can't? Non-Christians don't have real marriages according to the Bible do they? How can it be a biblical marriage if God Himself isn't involved in any way, shape, or form?

Seriously why can no one answer this?

I've discovered the mathematical equivalent to MercyBurst's argument against gay marriage. I will once and for all prove why gays should not be married by solving the equation '2 + 3' the way this logic dictates. Behold!

2 * 3 = 3 * 2

Now doesn't that simplify the problem?

Well, would gay civil-unions make it any different than gay marriage? Marriage is a civil union between two people who love each other. Love is blind, no one should be denied the right to be with the person they love. If two different species were to love each other, I would be perfectly okay with it, but what does an ape and a human have to do with two men or two women? I believe that sex should only be to create children, but that doesnt mean that two people of the same-gender shouldnt love each other or shouldnt be intimate. Intimacy can also be celibacy.

A woman is required for matrimony. When two guys get married who is the bride? Have they entered matrimony? I don't think so.

What's supposed to be the new definition of marriage, is it friendship?

If apes evolve to be just as intelligent as humans and fully able to consent, would it be moral for a human to have sex with an ape? I don't think it would be moral. Well so much for the consent argument. :sorry:

It's not up to you. :)
