Should I go for it? Or not?

I would appreciate some advice. I work full-time, but I've always thought it would be cool to learn about radio stations and maybe do some radio work myself as a hobby. I love to listen to radio shows (informational and news, NOT controversial talk shows).

So I have been taking a class at the local junior college and it's been interesting. But now comes the decision point -- Do I actually want to invest the time to REALLY get into it as a hobby? If so, I need to go through a training program that will take maybe 4-6 months and will be time intensive. (Equal to one work day each week, basically.)

The upside of doing it is that I would be equipped to do radio work afterward. And the timing is good because I have just finished the radio class.

The possible downside is that it will take a LOT of time!!!! That's time during which I would not be doing ministry, or having a social life, or relaxing from my full-time job.

What questions would you be asking if you were me, and trying to make this decision?

Thank you for any help you can give. I am also praying about it, but thought it might help to get some feedback too. :)

four to six months is nothing. I say go for it, especially if its something you like doing. I know a couple of lawyers who spent all that time in school just to find out they dont like there job. One of them wishes he was a musician. He actually started a band too.

The very best advice for you right now is to go to the book store or buy off the Internet a book called:

" THINK AND GROW RICH "
by NAPOLEAN HILL

This is a inexpensive, small, easy read book that if you follow the very simple plan you SHALL have success in whatever you do.
The " GROW RICH " is not just talking about money.

I read that book 3 times and the plan sent me to the top of my goals. It also explains goals. DON'T MISS THIS, as this WISDOM is GOD given.

hi jen! i think the time frame is reasonable, we are not talking years here. maybe since you are able to do it right now you should go ahead, with the possible idea that it will be a preparation for a ministry later. knowledge is a great thing, i'd never miss a chance to gain some. you never know when you might need it.

If you truly want to pursue a career in radio, than you should definitely take the classes. It will only take a few months of training and you will be able to take up an occupation that really interests you and makes you happy. Just think about it, a few months of training and missed work may result in you pursuing a new job that could make you truly happy for many years to come.

you dont always have to be active in a "designated church ministry" im not but i still plant seeds for the kingdom of God in my own way...be it giving, tithing, or giving someone advice and i do what i want to do that is good and not against the word of God...follow your desires and your heart..God will bless you in what you choose to do...and its not always as simple as praying for God's will because we arent robots and God wants us to take part in things that we enjoy as well. God bless

If this is something you really, and, I mean, really want to do, then I would say go for it. If you could make i your ministry, which I mean do a show devoted to Jesus Christ, and, what your ministry has to offer people. If you don't want to do it, then stick to your full time job. I think if you took the class, then try it for a while, and, if it is something that doesn't work, then, go back to your ft job. Praying about it is a good thing to do. Let us know what Jesus tells you to do.

Are you going to get this book or are you going to refuse this advise of mine and let it be like water off a ducks back?

The reason I ask this is because I do really care and LOVE to see folks achieve their goals. For this is VERY IMPORTANT for you should you become ANOINTED by GOD with HIS HOLY SPIRIT and receive the MISSION HE has for just you.

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for your advice. It's helpful to hear how you view my situation; it gives me some perspective. I may feel like, "Oh my gosh, it'll take a whole day each week to keep this up," but several of you seem to think it could be a good investment of my time, at least to check this radio thing out more fully.

I am continuing to lift this up in prayer. Your support has been an encouragement. Thank you all!

Do it.

(I removed the Stiller clip-- you got the idea.)

What questions would you be asking if you were me, and trying to make this decision?
A lot of people take night classes to switch professions or move upward, so you would be joining the ranks of many who stretch themselves. If you're not pursuing something fresh like this, routine responsibilities can get dull, so sometimes a new project saves you time in the long run.

You would meet new people, so you'd still have social interaction. I would just look at whether there are family members or close friends who need your help right now -- will you be flexible enough to drop a night of training in an emergency.

I don't think there are many questions that need asking. It seems to be a sensible, practical thing to do if you have time and interest.

How are you doing with this, Jen? Have you made up your mind about doing this as a hobby, or, what? Just wanted to know some kind of update. Thanks, and, may He bless you in whatever decision you make.

Hey ChristsCourage2 - thanks for checking in on me. So the answer is ... *drumroll please* .... Yes, I decided to do it! :) Actually, what I decided to do was to take one step at a time, which made me feel less paralyzed by indecision. I also spoke with one of the people involved with the program, and he said that there may be some flexibility down the road, if I am worried about the time commitment or schedule. I think what I've learned is that I don't need to have THE plan, I just need to trust that God will lead me as He sees fit. He will close the door if it needs be closed. I just need to stay close to Him, which I am trying to do. So far, there may already be a witnessing opportunity, which is pretty cool and unexpected. I will have to see where that goes. In the meantime, I am taking a baby step and learning some new skills and that's good enough for me. Thanks again, everyone!

Remember, a root meaning of the word translated as salvation is "wholeness'. Any activity that fulfills or releases a part of us that more fully expresses our humanity is part of life in all its fullness that Jesus promised. Salvation should make us more fully human, as Jesus came to rescue and restore humanity, not entombed souls.

Good for you!!!
It sounds like a dream coming true and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that; keep looking for areas within this dream to serve God and especially thank HIM for the potential you have and are unlocking.

You may meet one person in 30 years time who will come to know Jesus because you followed your dream
Then again you could speak a message that will bring hundreds of thousands to a point of repentance.
You might just encourage one lonely struggling sheep back to the flock!

It's a dream and follow it with the expectation to fly giving thanks and look for situations to be a minister of The Fathers LOVE!!!
