I don't know if any of you read the Rocks in my Dryer blog, but she recently made a post (actually on parenting.com) that really got me thinking.

Here is the link

My daughter who is almost 3 is exactly the same. I sometimes struggle with all the sacrifices I have to make as a mother. Her whining and crying can drive me up the wall. But then I read posts like that and I think, you know, she's so worth it.

She says in the post that she knew that just being there was making it better and there would come a day when she wouldn't be able to solve all her daughter's problems, but for now all her daughter needed was her, and that was enough. That is so true. They are small for such a short time and instead of being resentful I should be cherishing the time I have with her.

I don't suppose there is really any point to this post except to share that sweet post that maybe will get some of you thinking too.

Hi, I have an almost five year old daughter. I remember when she used to cry and carrying on when I would leave for work. NO Mommy I don't want you to go. I want you to stay home with me. She used to cling to me and I would try to peel her off of me. It was hard! It still is hard at times. When she gets into her whining routine and doesn't know what she wants. She is getting more independant where she doesn't quite need me as much. She doesn't give me a hard time about working. I've showed her where I work at and have her meet a few people that I work with. She understands this is where her Mom goes to when I say I have to go to work. It is hard in that in between stage. You are right about trying to be there for them when they are young. There are some things you have to make choices about. I try to be there for my daughter as much as I can. For I know she is not going to be young for long. She starts Kindergarten this next school term. I am trying to make the right decision on where to send her. Have a great Day! I love to hear from other Moms.

Yep, reminds me of last week, when my 3 year old was sick with gastro. She woke up vomitting and then crying about her "yucky cough" Poor little thing. It was lots of cuddles and hydrolite (or whatever it's called) iceblocks all around (as I had it too by this stage) Glad it's over now though.
