This Will Open your Eyes [font="verdana, arial, helvetica"]No cite came with this but it says it's Paul Harvey, so...

THIS WILL OPEN YOUR EYES. By Paul Harvey -

Conveniently Forgotten Facts

Back in 1969 a group of Black Panthers decided that
a fellow black panther named... Alex Rackley needed
to die. Rackley was suspected of disloyalty.

Rackley was first tied to a chair. Once safely
immobilized, his friends tortured him for hours by,
among other things, pouring boiling water on him.

When they got tired of torturing Rackley, Black
Panther member, Warren Kimbo took Rackley outside
and put a bullet in his head. Rackley's body was
later found floating in a river about 25 miles north
of New Haven, Conn.

Perhaps at this point you're curious as to what
happened to these Black Panthers.

In 1977, that's only eight years later, only one of
the killers was still in jail. The shooter, Warren
Kimbro, managed to get a scholarship to Harvard, and
became good friends with none other than Al Gore. He
later became an assistant dean at Eastern
Connecticut State College. Isn't that something?

As a '60s radical you can pump a bullet into
someone's head, and a few years later, in the same
state, you can become an assistant college dean!

Only in America!

Erica Huggins was the lady who served the Panthers
by boiling the water for Mr. Rackley's torture. Some
years later Ms. Huggins was elected to a California
School Board.

How in the world do you think these killers got off
so easy?

Maybe it was in some part due to the efforts of two
people who came to the defense of the Panthers.
These two people actually went so far as to shut
down Yale University with demonstrations in defense
of the accused Black Panthers during their trial.

One of these people was none other than Bill Lan
Lee. Mr. Lee, or Mr. Lan Lee, as the case may be,
isn't a college dean. He isn't a member of a
California School Board. He is now head of the US
Justice Department's Civil Rights Division,
appointed by none other than Bill Clinton.

O.K., so who was the other Panther defender?

Is this other notable Panther defender now a school
board member?

Is this other Panther apologist now an assistant
college dean? No, neither!

The other Panther defender was, like Lee, a radical
law student at Yale University at the time. She is
now known as The "smartest woman in the world."

She is none other than the Democratic senator from
the State of New York----our former First Lady, the
incredible Hillary Rodham Clinton.

And now, as Paul Harvey said; You know "the rest of
the story".

Pass this on! This deserves the widest possible
press.

Also remember it, if and when she runs for
President.

Gosh, this is OLD. It first came out in 1992 when Bill was running for the first time.

She was doing her job. As a public defender, she had a legal and moral obligation to defend them against the charges. She did that better than the presecutor did HIS job, that's all. I noticed that there isn't a critique of the lousy job the prosecutor did, just criticism for how well Mrs Clinton did hers.

Noting some of your other posts, I'm going to venture that your real sore point is that she's a woman. I wonder if she adjusts her makeup before she pulls out of parking spaces?

So the original post might be correct, but at what point do you put the past behind you?

Great point, strathyboy. She can hardly go back and retry them, can she?

Not really. Only insofar as both have a past that people might be tempted to use against them; to imply that since they did something bad in the past they cannot ever be trusted again.

I have to say, I really can't object to people doing their best as public defenders; given the number of innocent people who get convicted, I really have to hope that public defenders always do their best. It's not Divine Justice, it's not perfect, but it's the closest we've ever seen on this little ball of mud.

In addition to waterwizard's link, here is one directly to snopes about this urban legend.

Snopes

I don't think that Christians should be in the business of spreading rumors. It's always best to check emails or other things with snopes to see if it's an urban legend--even if you want it to be true.

Thanks Bear ~

You said it before I got to it. :)

But you see, not everybody knows about snopes.  I didn't until you just posted it.

Paul underwent a radical change, to the core of his being. Can the same be said of Hillary?

Sorry, no comparrison.

Not yet, but we can hope and pray that she will. The Christian thing to do is to pray for the people you don't like, isn't it? Does smearing her on a Christian website really do anything to help her find salvation? And aren't we supposed to pray for our governement officials, not just criticize them?

Well, lambslove, you're technically correct.  Yes, we are to pray for our leaders and government ~ Paul tells us to in Romans.  I absolutely agree with you.

But what about the controversy, debates and conversations over other such peoples and governments, such as the Islam fundamentalists and the Palestinian Authority, which would fall under the same "rule" (for lack of a better word).

I don't see Hillary's name or actions being slammed here actually.  I don't see anything wrong with having a decent conversation about public figures, as long as there isn't any name-calling or mudslinging.  That's why this is in the News/Current Events forum.  She's news, and she's current :)

I don't know; I don't know what kind of person she was, or is. Frankly, if she's undergone any changes, I tend to think that they're for the worse.

Still, not my business to judge in that sense.

It's hardly current, it's from almost 40 years ago. And the purpose of this post was to defame Hillary, not to discuss current events.

And you go ahead and take the low road of calling this a decent conversation, and I'll take the high road and keep her in my prayers.

But what about the controversy, debates and conversations over other such peoples and governments, such as the Islam fundamentalists and the Palestinian Authority, which would fall under the same "rule" (for lack of a better word).

1 Every person should obey the government in power. No government would exist if it hadn't been established by God. The governments which exist have been put in place by God. 2 Therefore, whoever resists the government opposes what God has established. Those who resist will bring punishment on themselves. 3 People who do what is right don't have to be afraid of the government. But people who do what is wrong should be afraid of it. Would you like to live without being afraid of the government? Do what is right, and it will praise you. 4 The government is God's servant working for your good. But if you do what is wrong, you should be afraid. The government has the right to carry out the death sentence. It is God's servant, an avenger to execute God's anger on anyone who does what is wrong. 5 Therefore, it is necessary for you to obey, not only because you're afraid of God's anger but also because of your own conscience. 6 That is also why you pay your taxes. People in the government are God's servants while they do the work he has given them. Romans 13:1-6

Remind believers to willingly place themselves under the authority of government officials. Believers should obey them and be ready to help them with every good thing they do. Titus 3:1

Believe it or not, even Bill Clinton's presidency was God's will, as is Hillary's Senate seat.

1 First of all, I encourage you to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and prayers of thanks for all people, 2 for rulers, and for everyone who has authority over us. Pray for these people so that we can have a quiet and peaceful life always lived in a godly and reverent way. 3 This is good and pleases God our Savior. 1 Timothy 2:1-3

God wants us to pray for our leaders and rulers, no matter what they do to tick us off.

Bear,

I think the finger is being pointed at me, not you :)

as a political figure, public scrutiny is part of the package. She IS accountable to the public

Bingo.

Oh my.

As far as my comment about Hillary being current and news, she is current and news.  She's still involved in politics and she's most obviously not dead, so therefore she's still news.
