We did CIO once when dd was about 4 months. Never again. I can't do that to my baby again. I'm all she has and all she wants when she's crying, and I just can't deny her that comfort.

She's now almost 2 and we still rock her to sleep; nowadays it takes about 5 minutes to get her asleep and put her down and then she sleeps for a good 11 hours. No crying, we all sleep well. It took a while to get to this point - she started sleeping through the night around 9 or 10 months and there are still nights that she wakes up (but she sleeps through more often than not). I wouldn't change a thing. Rocking her to sleep at night is one of our most special times of the day!

I
. She eats every 2 1/2 to 3 hours, about 5-6 ounces at a time (she gets breast milk from the bottle-only used formula a few times). She seems big enough to me (double chin and 3 fat rolls on each leg). Is that okay?

.

Oh my goodness now this makes me feel like I'm starving Grace. I only feed her 4 oz every 4 hrs. She seems fine with this though so I dunno. She weighed 9 lbs 13.5 oz last week. The past few nights she has slept longer but I put her in my bed. I know bad bad habit.

grase is bottle fed and its more filling than breat milk hence how she doesnt need fed as often. dont stay sharing beds. it takes so much more work to get them out again.

and out of intrest for you it is bout 13 weeks before a breastfed baby sleeps through the night. and its 11 weeks for a bottle fed.

all babys are diffrent sizes and some are more hungry than others. DONT START COMPARING YOUR BABY TO OTHERS. if they are happy with the amount you feed them then thats great.

co sleepings not bad is you can be total assured that the babys not going to fall out (maybe while to get up durin the night for the toilet) and that you aint gonna roll over on to the baby. and when they start to crawl the could crawl right out the bed.

personally i would rather get a well rested sleep with out the worry.

Im glad nothing bad happed when you were co sleeping heather jay but my mums old neighbour rolled over on her 2 week old baby and the baby died. i know it olny happens to a few of the unluckyes people but dont think i could ever forgive myself if i crushed my own baby to death.

Lots of people in this forum co-slept. There are responsible ways to do so that do not endanger the child. Please don't preach to me. There are plenty of threads here about the topic, though, if you'd care to discuss it further.

I just want to add one thing... When babies are newborns/infants, you Should hold them a lot. Studies have proven that babies who are held more often grow faster and are generally healthier.

Sometimes she will go to sleep on her own as in the swing, car seat or a mat we have. But at night is when it hits she watns to be held or in the a.m.'s.

Another quick question: When do you let them sleep however long at night? Say they go over 4-5 hrs do you wake them to feed anyway?

She's old enough to be left to sleep, though I would make a larger bottle that last bottle before bedtime.

The thing is she doesn't cry really she wakes up so I'm not sure if she is hungry or just needs her diaper changed.

No she wakes up grunting & does a little cry but nothing major and won't go back to sleep unless fed or changed which I do both at the same time every 4 hrs because she usually wakes up then.

She's hungry.... hungry babies grunt and try to chew/suck on everything ^_^

If sometimes you hold her to sleep and other times you set her down drowsy but awake, then she is still learning the skill of falling asleep.

There are times when she goes four hours, Basically, she eats 30 ounces a day in between her naps and she weighs about 11.5-12 pounds (she's seems long too, I think she is just a big girl). I wouldn't worry. Does she seem healthy? Of course. You are a good mama.

and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
^_^ And that certainly didn't last longer than the 8 days of Sukkot lemme tell ya... ;)

People have been co-sleeping round the world until about the last 100-200 years in Western society. It's a rather new concept, and only the rich could afford cradles or cribs at the time. :)

There's a lot of misinformation out there about cosleeping also. It just isn't for every family or situation :holy:

*back on topic*

So, how'd you make out last night?

We were woken no less than 3 times last night for feeds. He let me sleep in until almost 8am though, which I suppose is a fair trade ^_^

I wanna see some pics!! Yeah she seems healthy I think the doc would tell me if she needed more or I would hope so. I have given her 5 oz 2x this week cause she seemed hungry.

If this is to me the past 2 nights has been good she has slept longer but in my bed still. :)

She has major gas so that may be part of the grunting and when she is waking up. She spits out the bottle so I can't force feed her?

Would you place you newborn bay in a manager and leave him there all night? Or, sleeping in or near a stable, would you hold him close to you? Even if he spent the night in a manager, how far away do you think Mary and Joseph were?
