• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

So I know that other boards here at CF have "coffee shop" threads, where members can just hang out and talk about their days and things, and I think it's a good idea. They can be quite successful because they aren't targeted at anything specific, so anyone can post about anything really.

I know I don't post much here, but I do want to get to know you guys better, because I am an anxiety sufferer and it is nice to know (and sad to know, also) that there are others out there who struggle with the same things I struggle with.

Anyway, grab something to drink, and let's get our fellowshipping started!!

:hug:s for all.

Nothing like sitting back with a coffee.

If anyone is wondering about those 'half' caff instant coffees that you can buy and if they really are half caff or not well I can tell you that they must be....

My husband and I have been drinking the half caff for a while now as he found some reduced. Tastes just like all the other instants that you can buy. Then one day we brewed a pot of fresh coffee and I ended up having 2 cups of that. WELL! What can I say...did not help with my anxiety on that day!

I've not heard of the "half-caf" coffees... that sounds like something that my fiancé would like me to try... I need - literally, need - a cup of coffee in the morning, to wake me up. He's concerned about that as I am bipolar and stimulants can aggravate mood episodes. We had an argument about it last night, and I disagree with him - I don't want to wean myself off caffeine over Christmas break - I need it and like it. Decaf coffee sounds blasphemous. :p

But you are right, Amhacajo, in that coffee does tend to aggravate anxiety as well. I've found that... but thankfully my anti-anxiety meds are working pretty well. Neurontin 900mg and Klonopin 1 - 1.5mg. Whew!! Having panic attacks every day multiple times a day really sucks...

How's everyone's day going??

I have had a really good day today. I emailed my consent form back to the university to ket them know that I consent to taking part in their study with social phobia. I am a bit nervouse about starting that but I am really hoping that I get some real benefits from it.

Also had some retail therapy. Can it get any better than that.

Well I guess...hehe

I don't know about you but if I were married and my husband wanted me to try not having my morning coffee, he would probably quickly change his mind about that. ^_^ I go get bloodwork done every 6 months and can't have my coffee or breakfast in the morning. I am horribly grumpy on those mornings -- until I get to the place where I get my bloodwork done anyway -- then I am nice. I am always nice to people that are going to stick things in me :sorry:

I am glad you had such a good day. :) When does the study start?

Hehe, Jarrod and I talked about caffeine intake last night... I told him that I was still upset with him (24 hours later) about the coffee thing... and yes, I think he would change his mind once he has to live with me, when we're married (24 days!! ^_^). Actually, he wouldn't since his shift starts either at 5am or 7am - in either case, I probably wouldn't get up (for good, anyway) before he leaves. :)

I am very anxious right now about an exam I have coming up... eep!! Nervous nervous nervous........ *squirms* It's in Lifecycle Nutrition, on 150 pages of material, and no study guide because the prof is new and thinks that juniors/seniors shouldn't need study guides. Argh!! Sometimes uni is enough to drive me crazy (i.e., crazier).

Oh well.

* Soulwings quickly fixes herself a coffee and then heads off to her next class... medical anthropology, her favorite!!

:hug:s to everyone. Best of luck with the study, Amhacajo. :) Retail therapy? I.e., bargain shopping? ;)

The study (Shyness Program as they are calling it) begins on the 6th October. The idea being to see if the program they are running over the net will benefit people with SAD, as alot of people don't seek help due to the very nature of SAD. I have a detailed questionaire to fill out in about a week which I'm a bit anxious about as I'm guessing that it will be asking some really tough questions about my anxiety.... I'm just looking forward to starting it even though I'm a bit nervous about it.

I gotta agree about that morning coffee thing. I mean imagine not having that coffee...

Speaking of morning coffee, I've just finished my (first) mug. May go back for more since I am totally exhausted.

The study really does sound interesting. Let us know what some of the questions on there were (if you want to - you don't have to share your answers if you don't want to, of course)... I still from minor social anxiety disorder, been dxed with anxiety disorder NOS so there are elements of different disorders within that categorization. Blah. Anyway... I hope the survey isn't too stressful. I can understand why it might be.

I am so glad that yesterday is over. Exams are done for the week, paper is handed in, and now I am free as a bird (okay, not quite)... at least, I don't have classes today (or Monday/Wednesday - I have four 75-minute classes T/Th - it is a nice schedule in a way, but sucks because Tuesdays/Thursdays SUCK). I do have my weekly therapy (T) appointment, but that will be good since I have been struggling lately.

How is everyone's day going so far? plans for the weekend, anyone?

* Soulwings curls up in a squishy armchair to read for awhile before breakfast. :)
