What is clear here is that each tradition claims one thing. I say that the Bible writers probably put extra emphasis on Isaac being the "only" son because of the feud, and as a way to add insult to injury to the ongoing rivalry between the Sara and Hagar. Obviously. Since we know for sure Ishmael was Abraham's son, so there's no point or logic to the "only son" statement of later biblical verses.
