Honor thy parents situaiton?

Ok my mom asked me if i wanted to drop out of school after i was attacked by someone. I am not good in school i never payed attention so i said yes.Now at the time i was shaken up so i don't know if i told the story right. So this is what she knows so far from this
- That someone attacked me and i poked them before i was attacked
What she dosent know is that he was bullying me and trying to scare me by pretending to punch me and he was also harassing me by calling me names and such and i told him to punch me right then if he wanted to but he did not to at the time so 2 hours later i seen him in the hallway and i was still mad about him harassing me so i gave him a nudge then he waited till i turned around and punched me then attacked me more. Right now i do not want to go back to school not because he attacked me but because i am not good at school and i do not think it is for me. If i did not tell my mother the extras to this story would i be commiting a sin by not honoring my parents. Now i do not wish to have advice telling me to go back to school this is not what this is about

Its lying to her, which is not honoring.

There are many who do not get an education like you are able to. In fact in the bible the youn jewish boys (every one of them) from 6-10 memorized the Torah(first 5 books) word for word. Almost every one of them wished to continue there education and it was almost every boys dream to one day become a Rabbi.

Even in Africa these children without parent stay up all night doing homework and studies, because they see how important it is to them.

Im assuming your in High School and ill let you know that the only jobs that hire without a high school diploma are either construction or oversea's.

Why do you need to fight? What does that tell people about Christians? What name do you gain for yourself?

I grew up in gangs all I used to do was fight I trained in boxing, muay thai, tae kwon doe, a little bit of brazilian ju jitsu. All for what??
There are missionaries in China, India, etc. that get stabbed with hot pokers, defecated on, starved, beaten, stabbed, and when there done with these tortures they turn to their persecutor and say "God loves you"

Your better than that read "Revolution in world missions"

yup it's not honoring the parents by giving them full details coz if you had told them the whole story they might have reacted differently. So now since you want to keep it quiet, act like a christian man and settle the problem yourself. Go to school and start making friends rather than enemies.

The word used for honoring implied weighing their words carefully, respecting them. It was not about perfect obedience, because the commandment applied to adult children too. If a junkie asked their child to go rob a convenience store for them, complete obedience is not the will of God.

I think that in your head, you are already respecting your parents because you are concerned about not telling the whole story. A lot of parents would listen to the nudging part and completely understand, then just remind you that it wasn't the best choice of actions. If you're afraid they will react more harshly, then you need to weigh for yourself what is the wisest thing to do.

The fact that your decision about school might ride on whether you admit you provoked him, does not change the fact that you are not safe, and are not in a suitable learning environment. The school does not want injuries on their hands any more than you do.

CD, I know you asked, but...

Are there other schools you can transfer to? A lot of kids here take occupational courses that are outside of the school building. The school buses kids there for half a day, and they come back for the required courses like English.

Some of the occupational programs even have certification at the end, so that when you graduate, you are considered qualified to do that job. Some typical programs: auto mechanics, hairdressing, computer repair tech, journalism, child care, small engine repair (lawnmowers, boat motors, etc.), electrician, plumbing, woodworking, tool and die.

There's also home schooling. And tutoring if you just need some time away. And private schools... Christian schools...alternative education... schools for the arts and for technology.

You're not in a safe place, whether you tell the whole story or not.​

Your mom has given you the option of dropping out of school??? You may not realize this now, but that is sad.

I think you will feel better about the situation if you tell her the whole story, clear your conscience... that's the important thing. I hope this helps.
