I didn't see any threads about this, so here I go.

I saw they had made a game for left behind where you use prayer and praise as your 'weapons', and I thought, "AWESOME!" And I'm a big gamer anyways, violence doesn't bother me because... well it's normal to our world.
I watched a thing on CNN about it where Christians are protesting that the game is too violent.
It's so not even on the level that the movies or the books are in violence. No blood, no dismemberment, etc, it's just someone can get shot...

I disagree with the people that are protesting. It's a Christian game, but it's based on a book series... and living in the end times, or playing a game based in the end times isn't going to be, "Hey anti-christ, I want to pray for you! *giggles*". It's more about running your butt off or your gonna be killed mixed in with trying to keep your faith AND converting people. It's not close to the reality, but it's basis for it is. In my opinion.
You can also find more reviews talking about the misinterpretations of the game:

**I would appreciate it if only Christians replied to this because this is more of an issue for us than it is non-Christians. Of course unless you have a mature thing to say about it, then you're welcome to it. No Christian bashing from non-Christians please.

I definitely agree with you. I actually got this game for Christmas, and it's not really that violent at all, especially in comparison to the movies and such.
It is hard, however, to get fully into the game, because you don't get to fully make all the decisions. In order to complete each level you have to do exactly as they say, and basically you just follow the path they give you and that's it.
It is definitely a different style of gaming and can be interesting. Just depends on your cup of tea for games.

Well of course, everyone will have different levels of sensitivity when it comes to things like this. So I can't say I disagree with them protesting...if they're offended I guess they have their reasons from how they were brought up. However, I would say the game and the "violence" wouldn't bother me personally. But then again, I've grown up with a pretty moderate lifestyle playing all sorts of games, so there's my bias.

There's only one big problem I feel like I have with this game . . .

The fact that if you play MULTIPLAYER (2 player mode!), the only other side to choose from is the Antichrist's, the Global Community of Nicolae Carpathia.

:/ Yeah, I see how that would conflict...
I never really liked playing as 'the bad guy' in a game. Like the Battle for Middle-Earth, you can at least choose to be the 'other' good guys or be some of the bad guys...

Is this the one that Game Informer talked about? They said you have to either convert or kill people. Were they wrong, or just poking fun at it?

From the reviews I read, the idea of the game is that you're in the last days after the rapture (Tribulation), and you try to convert people. But, if they don't want to convert, they'll try to kill you, so out of self-defense, it turns into a gun battle and either you die or they do.

According to what the creators of the game said, "the Tribulation Force is only acting in self defense and thus its actions are morally justified. It further defended its game on the grounds of a lack of excessive violence and boast of Eternal Forces containing "no Bible-bashing believers, no Bible thumpers, no radical extremists killing in the name of God, no abortion clinic stalkers…"

The FAQ section answers all the questions on violence here: http://www.eternalforces.com/faq.aspx
