When you open a product that comes with a "freshness seal" under the lid, like peanut butter, creamed cheese, yogurt, etc... do you remove the seal entirely, or just partially?

Don't vote as to what you think you should do. Instead, vote based on what you now realize you've always done out of habit.

Lastly, how does this affect your marriage?

I think the only things I buy with a freshness seal are plain yogurt and cottage cheese. My husband doesn't like plain yogurt (and I can't STAND flavored yogurt), and he doesn't eat cottage cheese, so I think our marriage will remain solid even though I usually only partially remove the seal.

I remove the seal entirely, including any remnants that decide to remain on the rim of the container...this annoys hubby...he says it takes me too long to open the container! I told him that I just like things neat and orderly! He however only removes the seal enough to get to the goodies inside and then I inevitably must come behind him and fully open the product.

The whole thing gets removed, including the little bits on the side.

It's had a very positive effect on our marriage. My husband has taken after my habit, and I've even gotten him to remember to turn things like sour cream and cottage cheese upside down in the fridge, so all the water gets out of the product and we can easily open the lid a smidge over the sink to let it drain before scooping it out.

Ummm...I kind of do both. Leaving it on part way is annoying and inconvenient, but sometimes I'll cross myself and think "but, maybe it'd be better for the product to leave it on?" So, sometimes convenience wins and sometimes my thinking the fresh seal will retain freshness if it's left on wins.

As for my marriage...my husband probably wouldn't notice either way. I have no idea how he does things, and I don't really care since my ambivalence comes only when I have to open the package.

Mostly I remove the entire thing except for cream cheese in a container (I have no idea why but I only remove it halfway).

As for its effect on my marriage, it has had a huge impact. God help the man that decides to remove the seal from the cream cheese container as that is the only one I keep on for a time! Hell hath no fury like a woman dealing with the seal being removed more than she prefers....:p [just being silly]

All the way off. All the time. No exceptions.

I even take off the little pieces that get stuck to the edge as well. I hate opening up the peanut butter or something like that, only to discover that part of the seal is still on it. But, it gives me something to pick at as I make the meal...

As far as the affect it has had on my marriage... My hubby and I both take the seal off completely, so it has had no negative affects. Although he usually leaves the pieces around the edge that drive me bonkers..... We manage to get through it. And any arguments we have over the freshness seal makes our marriage even stronger than it was before.

I'm truly shocked and appalled at all the people who remove the little bits from the side of the container. Think of the children! There are millions of starving children in Africa and Asia, and you remove the bits from the side? What shameful, wasteful behavior.

Well, then I guess I'll have to put the little pieces from the edge into a box and send it to the starving children of Africa.:p

Then they will be like this... =>:full:

ROFL! Reminds me of when my mom would tell me to finish all the peas on my plate, because there were starving children in Africa/Inda/China (the location always changed... I think once she even said Canada. LOL!) Who would love to have those peas......
