Homie (less frequently, homey), is a contraction of the American slang word "homeboy" which became prevalent among some of the youth in the African American communities starting in the late 1960's and continuing up to the present, particularly in the hip hop subculture.

So "hizzomies" is either a battle cry or the plural of a derivation of a contraction of an African American hip hop slang word.

OK, I am a peaceful man, I was taught british english, I lived in England for a few years, I am a white european & I am as familiar with hip hop as the Himalayan Yeti is with pop corn.

No wonder I could make no sense at all.

Has Hizzomies been added to the Oxford English dictionary yet? Or is Matrona hoping to make hizzomies the next entry?

The swiss episode by itself was funnier than 90% of these other animated shows.

I agree. Once I watched the entire first season of The Tick in one evening. It was glorious. I think it permanently altered my mode of thinking.

It sure is! I think hubs and I will see it sometimes this week. He likes musicals so he'll like it. We've listened to the soundtrack driving around here in Finland all week. I mean it's cheesy but it's cute! And Bond should just not sing...

I want to see it...its cheap movie night tonight so maybe we can go as a family

Hey Kreikkalainen - you get your crown holding practice in this summer despite the cruddy weather??? It hasn't been terrible while we've been here but quite dreary. I'm looking forward to going home on Saturday!

I really enjoyed the movie but am I the only one who got thoroughly confused by the western wedding in a Greek church (complete with icons) and the old greek men crossing themselves Catholic style?

Quick hi at lunch time.

Spring is in the air, trees are turning green and we can turn down the warmers. Horrrayyyy!

I'm singing in the chior for English DL tomorrow, so an early Saturday start for us.

Slept badly last night after a chopper was buzzing low over our house at one in the morning for five minutes, scaring our parrots!??? Probably looking for a runaway burglar in the back yards.

That is why one of the reasons I don't miss South Africa! We've had armed gunmen running through our backyard! And I don't know how many people have been attacked and women raped just opposite our house!

I talked a cute red head into coming with me to Liturgy next week. Some female company will be nice, good discussion will come I'm sure. She's Catholic and I come from a Catholic background so I think good things will come from it, if only good discussion about the faith.
