...in an Irish pub by three charming Irishmen.:blush:

Really. :) The Pub is owned by a friend of ours (who is oddly enough, Russian :D) and we went there after the party and fireworks at another friend's house with some other people who were not yet ready to call it a night. One of them tried to buy me a drink, which was sweet as he was probably ten years younger than me at least, but I pointed out my hubby and thanked him for the thought. He was very nice about it, and kept talking to me...and I was utterly charmed by his accent. :) Apparently, he and his two friends, came over to work in Raleigh for a pharmaceutical company because there are no jobs to be had back home. We talked until the bar closed, Michael eventually joined us at some point and was as thoroughly engaged by them as I was. Anyway, right before we left, they actually sang 'Black Velvet Band' for me...right out loud at the bar. :D It was very cool.

Say a prayer, if you would, for three very charming Irishmen far from home. They were absolute sweethearts.

Peace!

:p No, thank you. :D Even at that, I don't think I'll ever get tired of that particular accent. It's just lovely. I did have to ask them to repeat themselves often, though. Not only was I distracted by the accent...they spoke faster than a southern gurl is used to hearing. :) Everything is slower in the south...and I can't always follow someone who talks very fast. The words start to slur together.

you should hear Gaelic, it is very odd the first time. My great grandparents on both sides came from the old country.

They did speak a bit of Gaelic. :) But, as I don't know any Gaelic other than toasts and terms of endearment, I didn't understand. :D

Irish pub......yeah......Irish pub.......

Guinness and Jamesons :yum:

Actually...they were drinking Corona's. :D Michael was having a Guinness and cider (which is kind of the rave now at the Pub), and offered to buy them one, but they seemed genuinely horrified at the thought of drinking a 'polluted' Guinness. :D I asked them why they were drinking Corona's, and they said it's because it was in a bottle...you know what you are getting. A bottle of Corona in America is the same as a bottle of Corona in Ireland...but whatever comes out of a tap is a dicey proposition. And they'd rather have a Mexican beer, than a poor Guinness. :) Michael did eventually get them to share one with him, sans the cider, and they conceded that it wasn't a bad Guinness altogether. ;)

why the heck did you do that?

:D Instinct, I suppose. I met my husband when I was 16...I don't know how to act when men try to hit on me. Michael always leaves me alone at some point when we go out, to go to the bathroom or speak to someone he knows across the room, and I guess a woman sitting alone is 'up for grabs' so to speak. :) It flusters me, so I just immediately say, "I'm married!".:D I can be a pretty big flirt, but only when I feel 'safe'. :sorry: ;)
