I use the KJV, but last semester, one of my friends gave me a New Testemant Bible in the New International Reader's Version, and it seems as if this one is more "relatable". In the KJV, I can understand everything, but I can't get past everything seeming as if it's locked into a monotonous unemotional uneventful setting. I'm going to buy/get a Bible in another translation, but still keep my KJV handy for an ultimate reference.

First of all I pray that this will not degenerate into a KJV-only debate. Such debates grow tiresome quickly and have no place in a forum intended for fellowship.

That said I currently primarily use the NIV for reading and devotions. So I'll vote for that one.

However, recently I have become a fan of the NASB which is not listed. This is supposed to be the most accurate word-for-word translation to english. I hope to get a copy of the NASB Study Bible at some point and possible make that my primary. Currently, I only have it on my computer.

The Amplified is also a good one. It's like having a study Bible rolled into the text. Multiple translations of the original language (Hebrew or Greek) are used to give a clear meaning of any particular passage. As a result of this the verses tend to get rather long and wordy. I'd only advise this translation for intensive study of passages of scripture. Not necessarily general reading.

If you're a teacher I'd highly recommend this translation.

(Note: I prefer the term "translation" rather than "version." It's more accurate and dosen't suggest a Bible 1.1.)

KJV is all I use as well...and if sometimes it is too hard to understand I just rely on God to let me have the interpretation he wants me to have...not the interpretation of some other human...as most of your newer Bibles coming out now are interpretated by man...their version of what it says. I let God interpret to me what he wants to tell me through the word...not somebody elese interpretation.

I use a bunch of different versions.

I mostly use the NIV when I am reading in church and doing stuff with youth group or a Bible study there.

At home I do my own devotionals with the KJV as well as the NIV. And I use like 5 different translations (sometimes more) when I am preparing sermons.
