i'd rather just keep living my life without knowing when i was going to die. i know i'm going out one day so its not like it'll be a total shock when i do die but i think it'd be rather morbid and depressing to know when it was going to happen and have to dwell on it constantly.

If I knew the day I was going to die, I might be tempted to let the monster loose and go hog wild, committing any and every sin I ever felt like right up until the bitter end where I'd do a deathbed repentance/confession.

The death itself isn't the thing I would fear: it's the depths of depravity that I know I would be in danger of sinking to if I knew that I had a guaranteed "Get Out Of Jail Free" card waiting for me at the bottom.

I'm the only one (so far) who voted can't decide. I'm not sure. I think that I'd really like to know for some morbid reason that I can't really explain. It might be partly because I'm a planner by nature and it might help me to decide what direction my life should take.

But then there's the part of me that feels like I really don't want to know so that I can live more carefreely without that hanging over my head. I also know that there's no way I could really prepare even if I did know when I die because my life is really in God's hands.

I voted "not sure" because it would be a blessing and a curse.
If I knew exactly when it was going to happen,
I'd probably start doing more with my life under less and less fear...
since I knew that nothing I could do right now was going to kill me,
my death was set for a later time. I'd also work on relationships. I would anyway, but if I knew how long I had, I might take a few risks with them.(saying "I love you" kind of risks)

On the other hand, if I tried to get things done and was not succeeding, or I lost track of time, I'd one day realize "[wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth] my death is getting closer and I haven't done anything yet!!" and that would put stress on me.

Hey, at least I could plan to go out with a bang.
Do something drastic to make an impact on the world,
the way the one girl from the columbine massacre said "yes" to a boy who put a gun to her head and asked her if she believed in God...

I think knowing the date and time of my death would, as they say, light a fire under my feet. If I found out it was next week, you can bet the next seven days would be the most precious of my life. If it's 60 or even 100 years from now, that still seems like the blink of an eye to me. Already I've lived 23 years, and it shocks me to think of that. It feels that it's been so short, and I want to make the most of every moment.

Would you choose to know the day (or just year rather) of your death? Do you think knowing would be liberating or no?

my answer was "no". I think there are some things we were not meant to know and if we knew the time of our death we would constantly worry and fret, or we would live the last day we live on earth in the most selfish way possable because "we have nothing to lose". I wouldn't wanna know the time of my death for these reasons and I think this is why God also doesn't tell us the date of his return.

Think about it like this:

If you knew when you were going to die, then wouldn't you live life and end up dying a different way?
Or maybe you'd be living life because of what you saw, and that's the reason why you died.

But I said no just the same. :)
I accept and embrace death, so when God decides I should be with him, I'm fine with that. :)
