Thank you missms Good morning [now afternoon] to you

Yes I do enjoy, helping the garden to show itself at it's best

The soil outside our lounge window, is very claggy [sticky] from, yesterdays rain
and it does seem as if there is more to come, today and tomorrow
As soon as I am able, to pick some up on a spade and drop it off again
without it sticking to the spade and making the job so HEAVY
I will get out there and dig-in two humungus bags of compost and replant
existing flowering plants and move-in two shrubs

I have, today, pruned the lower part of our Butterfly Bush
to allow flower stems below to flower freely
and support-tied rose stems on two bushes to keep them AIRY
this, I hope will avoid mildew being encouraged

'Teddy' found his way behind the fencing last week/ week before
and chased up and down [like a scalded cat?]
but many seedlings survived even that, commotion and I have
long-closed the gap to prevent/inhibit further-intrusion

Slugs, have eaten our strawberry fruits... They, looked real-tasty too!!

I will of-course display images on our garden's progress
immediately that I have stuff to show

Hi everyone. :) I hope everyone is ok. I'm afraid I don't have time to read through all the posts but I miss you all and think about you all often.

Dave, if it is any help to you we grow some of our strawberries in hanging baskets. I also heard on television recently that slugs don't like hair clippings, soot or ash.

Anyone know why one of my pumpkins dropped off?

Blessings

I do hope you mean the strawberries dave lol. Actually a dish of beer will attract garden slugs they will go for that before anything and drown themselves. At least they die happy.:)

It is so nice to hear from you whenever it happens. I haven't been able to figure out why pumpkins drop off too soon. Was the vine bent or stepped on at some point? It is likely not big enough at this stage to mature on its own either what a drag. Here is an interesting recipe I found online. I have no idea what vegan sugar is but I am sure regular will do just fine. :)

Who Knew It Was Vegan Pumpkin Cookies

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cup canned pumpkin
2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon each - cinnamon & nutmeg
1 cup chopped nuts
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
4 cup all-purpose flour

Directions:

Beat vegan sugar, pumpkin, oil and vanilla.

Sift together dry ingredients. Stir into the pumpkin mixture until smooth.

Blend in raisins and nuts.

Drop by spoonfuls or oiled baking sheet, and bake at 350°F for 12-15 minutes.

Serves: 5-6 dozen

Preparation time: 30 minutes

What I found on the iVillage garden web site says that you may not have enough of either the male or female flowers.
This is the link to the forum I found. I hope it helps some.

We used a strawberry pot this year for our plants. We have had it for a while, but never tried it. I hope that helps to keep the slugs away.
We have almost all of the plants in, just a few left over cucumbers to find room for.
I like to see your pictures, they are always so beautiful.
How is the horse doing? What stage is it in now?
Have a good evening.

Thank you missms Good morning [now afternoon] to you

Just stopping in to wish you all a good night and a good weekend.
Not sure if I will have the chance to pop on over the weekend or not.
Just to let you know that I will be thinking of you all.
Take care and God Bless.

Thanks Ley

We live in a SMOKELESS ZONE and have no ashes from a firepit
nor a chimney to sweep for soot

Mary wants me to use the local barber shop next week
I wonder, shall I 'risk' asking for my hair [to take home again] LOL

The suspended baskets, sounds interesting and worth doing

Yes Jan...... I did, mean., that the strawberries 'looked delicious'
and NOT the snails .... lol

The now CONSUMED fruit was two inches in diameter
and one was almost three inches across

As for the beer idea, I only ever buy the odd bottle or two
I dont really want to 'share' any more of, anything, with the slugs

:(

Hi All it does look like a lovely day is happening outside. Son #4 just left to go to the beach. Son #2 left in his wheelchair to head up to the mall and buy lunch. This is a big thrill for him. I don't have too many plans. I have to start getting my spare room and the downstairs ready for a possible homestay placement for the summer. If I do get her she won't need the room till late next week though so I don't feel too pressured. Have to go to the airport to pick up family in a couple of hours too. After all the drama yesterday (mom in law taken to ER in ambulance with chest pain) it is nice to be able to relax and lay back a bit. Jan

Boy, gratefulgrace, sure sounds like your life is as busy as mine. My mother is in a nursing home. She doesn't even know who I am anymore. Had a Dr. appointment to see what the rash is on her arms, chest, & back. That was fun! My grandson who's 6 is autisic and he's a handful. He's not here this weekend. My husband's sister will be here on Wed.7/2 to 7/6 so I'm trying to get things lined up for that too.

I just returned from church this evening and am now at my computer seeing what is going on here and looking at photos of my grandson, son and DIL that I took last week when I was visiting them. My heart is filled with joy and peace that only comes from God. I love Him as much as my human heart can love Him. That is nothing compared to how much He loves me. What an awesome God He is.
