I was thinking about evangelism a while ago, and I realized something: besides my days as an unbeliever inside a church, nobody has ever attempted to witness to me in my life!

There has never been a time in my life when I have walked down the street, or been in the mall, or been hanging out in a park, and had someone try to talk to me about Christ.

I am positive that I do not have a halo over my head or a holy light emanating from my person, so I do not think that I "look" like a Christian during everyday life. I am sure that when I am witnessing to a stranger not every other Christian in my town sees it and makes a mental note of my face. So then, how can it be that I have never been handed a tract, stopped by a street evangelist, or had a knock on my door from a believer?

It makes me sad to think of all those who are unregenerate, those who will never darken the door of a church, walking around oblivious to the wrath they are storing up for themselves. Get out there and preach to the Lost. Oh, and if you get a huge grin and a hug when you are witnessing on the streets, that is just me, ecstatic that someone FINALLY got to me!

maybe you are not looking in the right place...did you ever think about the tv or a radio? even though it may not seem personal, it really is because you'd be suprised at how many people flip the channel quick when they see a televangelist or change the radio station when they hear a christian song, just remember these places are still personal because if God didn't want you to hear His word through people, He also wouldn't let you listen to christian stations or TV christian channels. That is still witnessing!

Don't worry, I was never witnessed to either. But, after 20 year away from God, I some how was saved by Grace last year by Him. Now its my goal to pick up the ball while others have dropped it. Witness and make disciples- That's life for me.

Its good to see where the areas in your city lack in evangelism, this means YOU can do something about it! :-D
You :preach: it!!!

It is sad that so many Christians fail to realize that many of the people they encounter in their day to day lives are headed for hell. If we truly loved God, and if we truly loved our neighbor as ourselves, then as Christians we should be making Christ known everywhere.

To those who do actively share the gospel with people, then keep on going! For those who do not actively verbally share their faith, the simple question is: "Why Not?"

I agree with your statement here and think it is valid. However, witnessing is not just for the televangelists and Christian radio stations, it is the solemn duty of ALL regenerate believers. Not that we should spend every waking second preaching, but SOME TIME. It is just a sad thought to me to realize that most Christians do not practice this directive.

I didn't say it had to be through tv and radio ONLY. I said those are possibilities. :)

I agree with what you are saying, that I do. I feel that there should be more people speaking about God, handing out information, and showing love; however, another type of witnessing is spoken of in Matthew 5:16-

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

One way that I witness is by showing them love and kindness if I possibly can. The result of this is amazing. They say, "I don't get it... why are you so kind to me?" That opens a window to bring Christ into the conversation and, therefore, witness to them. This technique works for me, for if I begin talking to people around here and on the net right off the bat, many think I'm a religious zealot who wants "to undermine their beliefs." To avoid this, I try to act in ways that our Holy Lord would approve of, letting His love shine through me to witness to others.

This could be different from what you're thinking of, but I felt I'd just add in my two-cents. :)

Yes, it's sad to say that is the truth. The reason is when you have God's heart, then you will have a heart for souls. When you know what God saved you from, then there will be such a burning desire to talk to everyone about the Lord. God told me that " I have divine appointments for my people, but they don't ask me." I have by the spirit went up to someone at a gas station and gave him a word from the lord, that God loved him and showed me something about him that nobody would know except him, and I shared it with him. Your right, nobody has come up to me and given me a word of knowledge from God while I was out and about. If we ask God to lead, guide and direct our path everyday, he will send us to people that are hungry to hear about God. Wouldn't that make you feel so special that God heard you and cared about you so much that he would send a complete stranger to answer you. We need more of that and I loved to be use like that. I have the call of the evangalist, so I can just talk to anyone and it is truly a blessing.
