Stare at me. I look young and have three kids.

People just don't know when to mind their own business. I hope you stare right back. (not that that's really a Godly attitude and all, it's just things like this really bug me too)

I don't know, if it was me I think I'd be thankful I have 3 healthy kids and I was skinny (I don't recall ever being what you would call skinny - I'm a "bigger" gal, and I am getting pretty clucky for that baby no. 3)

I wonder if I stare...

If it's any consolation...My SIL has 3 kiddo's. 9, 7 and almost 6. She makes comments to moms who have 1, 2, 3+ kiddo's often. I don't think 'you must have your hands full' is meant as rude but rather as encouragement.

I know how you feel, kinda, lol. If I'm out with the kids that I nanny I get ALL sorts of stairs. It was especially bad when I was 19 and nannied a 9, 7, and 3 year old.

Try 5+ & you get, 'Are they all yours? You work out what causes that yet? Don't you have something better to do?' & my personal favourite, 'Don't you think the world's overpopulated enough without contributing to it?'

Oh & I was skinny & looked about 16 so I'd get the occasional snide remark about welfare babies raising welfare babies. People are wonderful.

^ ^ Yeah, that's me too. I look younger than I am, and where I live at the moment having 1-2 children is the norm, as is waiting until AT LEAST age 30 to start at all.

So as well as the stares (every time I go out) I get the "are they all yours" (and from my new GP no less- 2 weeks later I was there for this pg ) and also "you must have started young" (from someone who is older than me and has one 2 year old, and not having any more).

Yep, I'm a freak! And that's even without the babywearing (and preschoolerwearing, and even both at once ) or extended breastfeeding.

I looked younger than I am until somewhere around toddlerhood of number 4

Sorry, I know that's rough.
I get some of that, too. I look a lot younger than my age. If I want to get a drink when we go out I always get carded, and I'm nearly 40!! I mean I know I have a younger looking face, but under 21? Come on! I got comments too about how quickly I returned to my normal weight, but I was pretty small before so I was never sure what people expected exactly? It's really frustrating, but hang in there!

I always wanted a flashing neon sign to float above my head that said "Yes, I am married. I am older than I look. They are all ours. and no I don't have my hands full. Thank you have a good day."

Doh, I totally forgot about the "Are you the nanny?" questions at the playground. Grrr. . . No wonder the other moms there wouldn't talk to me. They thought I was "the help"

I get the same thing when people find out my oldest daughter is 18. I get "Were you a teenager when you had her?". I wasn't, I was 21, but I honestly think the freckles throw people off. I am always mistaken for being younger than I am.

Wow... I have no idea where people get the idea that they have the right to comment on strangers (or people they hardly know). I would never in a million years say something like that to a stranger.

Heck, my SIL and her husband had been married for 5 years before having their 1st and even after 2 years of marriage I didn't have the nerve to ask if they were going to have kids

Oh yes I do know what you all are talking about~ I'm lucky enough never to have any negative comments even though I was a teen mom at one point (I had my first at 18 and my second at 21). Even now at 26 I still look very young (around 20 or so is what I usually get) and with my kids being 5 and 7, I get some looks, especially at my daughter's elementary school, where most of the moms are over 30, with a good number in their late 30s to 40s. What's more is that my husband is 24 and is in a band and looks like it, plus we live in a upper-middle-class conservative area. Most of the time people are polite and will stop staring if I look over at them and smile.

Man, that's crazy! I honestly wonder why people feel the need to make comments like that or act in that manner. I'm sorry you're having to deal with it, Leanna.

Other than people around you being morons, how's it going with adjusting to a new little one in the house? How are you doing postpartum?

I know how you feel! Just start carrying a camera around and ask if they'd like to take a picture instead of staring so much.

You'd be greatful when you're 40 but don't look it.

Having 3 boys I get comments about having my hands full or trying for a girl. I think most the time people are just trying to be friendly. We get encouraging words from older couples who have survived life with boys. The only time I really get annoyed is if one of the boys is having a meltdown or misbehaving and people give you nasty looks.

Whenver I get the whole "you must have your hands full" thing (which i never understood because I only have two) Anyways I always smile and say "Yes, I'd rather have my hands full than empty."

The hands full thing has never bothered me. Maybe because the people have always been very friendly who've said it.

I get the opposite. I have three girls, and I get the trying for a boy thing all the time.
