I posted this over in the W.D. but I might get some more responces here...

Seth was out with my parents all weekend, they went to the beach, my mom drops him off today and before she did, she calls to tell me they were on there way home, and tells me he got a little red, his face was "a Little" red and his arms were a little red. Well when she drops him off, his face was blisterd and his arms were RED, his back is red, his stomach is red, his is just toasted, He has Eczema in the process. I am not very pleased about this at all, he has never had a sun burn because we always make sure he has sunblock on and that its reapplied every 30 minutes.

His face is swollen, I mean really swollen, I have never seen him look like this, he doesn't even look like the same kid, its so sad, I mean he is already miserable from the eczema, but now a sunburn. Do you think he might be allergic to the sun? Here is a few pics of his face.

We been applying Aloe-Vera on him, of course I have to hold him down while hubby applies it because he won't let us do it. He won't put a cool rag on his face, though I know it'll feel better.

That is essentially radiation poisoning. I would seek medical help for him. Some vitamins help flush out the radiation from the body.

Did your mother or father not apply any sunblock on Seth? Perhaps they need to read about the danger of radiation from the sun, just to get more reality on the subject. If they're anything like my parents, they came from a time when not much was known about these dangers.

Wow Mel, he needs to be seen ASAP. I remember as a kid a friend of mine ended up with something similar and she had to be hospitalized because of the burns.

Please for his sake, take him in. That child does not deserve to suffer like that.

Oh and I would never allow him to be anywhere with our parents again until they can learn that children (ALL of us) need sunscreen.

As I said in the WD, we took him in at 10pm this morning been sitting in the ER all day, he had a shot, he had an allergic reacation, the doctor thinks its to the sun, but said it could be to the sun screen, so we aren't sure, he's used the sunscreen all his life and never swollen, so I'm sure its a reaction the sun burn... When he woke up this morning his eyes were swollen shut, so as soon as we got out of bed, we changed and called my MIL, she came down and road with us to the ER, and she said when she seen him that he is allergic to the sun, doesn't suprise me, he is allergic to everything else, he can't even play in grass without breaking out.... He is home, we have 2 more medications to add to the other 10 meds he is on... Gosh I hope one day he'll be rid of all this.

When I seen him this morning, I just started balling, and I know I'm suppose to be strong for him, but uggg it breaks my heart.

I talked to my mom after we were at the ER, and I told her what is going on, and she said that she put it on him every 30 minutes, so unless they used another sunscreen then the one I packed him, I really don't know, but my mom is very upset about him being like this right now...

Manna, he prolly was a little red yesterday, before he got back out in the sun, and I know when I get a sun burn and its bad, it doesn't HIT until a few hours later, to be honest his face isn't really red right now, its just swollen, so I think most of the redness came from the swelling, then again he does have blistirds so I'm not sure, the way mom talked he had sun block applied every 30 minutes...

as you can see the swelling is going down a lot..

The best thing for a sunburn is tea. Regular ole liptons. My mom used to use it on me as a kid. I use the cold brew so you dont have to wait for it to cool. Make it concentrated like add a bag to a cup of water. Then use cotton balls to dab it on the skin. It is immediate relief and non toxic. I have fair skin and I burn a lot. It will take the swelling down too. The worst burn i ever had my eyes swoll shut and a few doses of tea fixed it. So give it a try and dont think im crazy :)

Did the Doc in the ER know he was on 10 medications already? Photosensitivity is a side effect of several medications and it is possible this is why your son was more sensitive than normal.

Sun allergic/sensitive reactions usually subside after a day out of the sun. I hate to second guess an MD but it really looks like your son got a really bad sunburn. If your son has a regular pediatrician, not just the doc in the ER, I would schedule an appointment with that doc - someone familiar with the battery of drugs he is already on. If nothing else, just put in a call to the pediatrician and let them know that two new medicines have been prescribed and ask if the Doc has any concerns about drug interactions.

Well 10 was an exadration, just to point out that he is on other meds. But Yes I brought all the medications he is on, to the hospita, so they knew everything is is on, and him being one with eczema, the doc was prolly right, he had a sunburn, but it wasn't bad enough for just a reg sunburn to do that, his face was swelling more and more I'd look at him, but when he got that epi in him, it started going down.
