Ze Original Taverna is back then I guess! Roaches and baklava and all! :p

Can someone send us some heat, this 43 degree weather is getting to me as it's 66 in the middle of the night at home. I'm getting used to gloves and scarves again... UGH. Monday can't come soon enough!

The Pacific High will blow over toward the East soon enough bringing 90 degree weather. Then you will wish it were in the 40s and 50s again.

I never wish for 40s and 50s... upper 60s and up to 80s (without humidity) is fine with me... I'm not looking forward to 80s and 85% humidity... UGH

I wilted today. It was over 90. There were some girls in short shorts and camis.

However, I met some students who wore all black with long sleeves. That did not look cool at all.

Two of my favorite students, muslim women, looked radiantly happy in their long outfits and complete head coverings. Go figure.

Wes, it is not a good translation ... :( I wish they had the script so I can type it for you but I have to type it on my comp and then paste it.... Maybe someone esle can type it for you then....

All the verbal and noun declensions are wrong....

edit addition: here I found it in the wikki:

Κύριε Ἰησοῦ Χριστέ, Υἱέ τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἐλέησόν με τὸν ἁμαρτωλόν (τὴν ἁμαρτωλόν if prayed by a female)

I cannot believe they got rid of the script .....:(

I am told this is a safe place to talk about anything. So here goes:

To those I haven't really interacted with, please forgive this as my first intro - I am not normally a "hysterical" person:

Begin rant:
If I read one more post that implies that cradle Orthodox "don't really understand" Orthodoxy, I am going to puke all over this forum. (Well, okay, so it will only be on MY monitor and it won't even affect your reality...nonetheless....)

I understand that many here are converts who have read and read and read...This is WONDERFUL and I am so happy to see you in the Church.
At the same time, for a cradle like me, who really DOES know the Faith and the Church, it begins to feel like converts don't really like us all that much. It begins to feel like you see us and treat us, the same way as the evangelical protestants who come to our homelands to convert us because we're "not really Christian" or we're just "cultural Christians" who haven't "accepted Jayzuz Chriiiiiiiiiist as our pursonel Lawrd and Sayvier".

It is really insulting and hurtful to us cradles to hear you say things like that. I have heard this from converts in my church, and I have read similar statements here in this forum. I think you mean well, but you are hurting us deeply - cutting us to the very bone of our being when you imply that we don't know as much as you. We may not have read the same books - but this is our Church too. We have bled for it, and some of us have family who have died for it.

When I read things on here that is not Orthodox, I am always afraid to say anything because I don't want to offend, I don't want to turn people away, or cause an argument. I hesitate all the time and I feel like I am walking around on egg-shells.

I admire you converts for your zeal, your knowledge and your "journey home". But pleaase: wipe your dirty feet before you come in the door and if you take a shower, please hang the shower curtain INSIDE the tub. Thanks.

I love you.
End rant.

Ok, I'll use this Greek script for my signature.

I agree with your mini rant :) And I'm not Orthodox either :)

From time to time I ask my GodPapa questions and he [ cradle UGCC ] has to think hard before he can answer. His comment is that I'm good for him as I keep making him think about things in the back recesses of his brain so that he can answer me. [ at times he has to go off on a hunt to check on something before we talk further about it - and this is good for him too :) ]

As he says ,he has absorbed the Church from his early days and I'm the one that's actively learning all the time, and I'm very very aware of this .

I reckon that he's more relaxed about things than I am - I'm aware of how much I don't know and I keep saying I'll never catch up with the amount he knows. His comment to that is it really doesn't matter , but I have to learn to relax and not be so uptight about what I know or don't know. I've to stop being so defensive about myself - my SF says the same thing too.

Both of them keep warning me about convertitis and I think a lot of converts after a while , forget about this factor.
