Ok, learned something new here today. I did not realize that there is a difference between diliverance and healing. I don't know much about this stuff...I just know what I personally have gone through. Thanks for the info guys! Now, I have to wonder if I was healed or delivered, or what. lol. Alls I know is that when I'm right with God, my anxiety, OCD, depression and panick attacks are gone.....and when I'm not right with God, it comes back with a vengeance.

Deliverance is part of the Healing Ministry.

Let me tell you all something. So is Doctors. The Lord very often uses Doctors.
So, if Palidan Girl is under good Medical care and they are looking for a root cause, I then think that orthodox medicine should be backed up by prayer for healing.

However, I will stress again, what I told her in CCR, to approach deliverance cautiously.

And yes I do know the Catholic Charismatic Frances MacNutt. I have gone through his School of Healing Prayer. Deliverance is only one part of his and his wife Judith's overall Healing Ministry.

I agree that the Lord works through the hands of doctors. I hope that nothing I have said has led anyone to believe that I don't believe in that.

I have been involved with NUMEROUS deliverance ministries. I would still recommend that this girl stick with her physician and his plan. If she should choose to pursue a "deliverance"....I pray that GOD be with her. Use discernment girl. Seriously pray about it. That is MESSY stuff.

I agree...PaladinGirl....maybe try doing what the doctors say...take the medicine if they offer any, and get counselling. That may work for you. -And if it does, great...stick with it! However, if you happen to feel its not working, then seek deliverance. That's what I would recommend......but I'm not a professional or a Biblical scholar... I can only go by my own experience, and what the Spirit has shown me.

That is not exactly true and you need to talk to more folks, maybe.

I know you didn't get that answer in Charismatic Catholic Renewal.

No, I did not get that answer in Charismatic Catholic Renewal. :)

Don't worry, I'm going to keep taking my medicine and going to therapy. Both helps me a lot. :)

Good!!! Sounds like you are on the right track! :D Now, just remember that just because you start feeling better does not mean you can stop taking your meds. The only reason I'm saying this is because alot of people, who suffer these kinds of illnesses, stop taking their meds when their symptoms go away. They think they are cured, or don't need the medicines anymore. Don't ever stop unless your doctor advises you to. Also, if you are feeling bad side-effects, they normally will go away after the first couple of weeks, so just stick it out. Also, it can take months to feel the full effect of a medicine, so just give it time. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of therapy are you in? Are you just talking to a therapist about things that bother you? Or, are you doing something like Cognative Behavioral Therapy, where they teach you ways to change your thinking??? The only therapy that helped me was the Cognitive Behavior Therapy, because it helped me improve myself. I never cared to rehash all the negativity in my life...although I did have that kind of therapy too.

I have no idea what the type of therapy is that I am in. I know that I am in counselling, soon to be in day treatment therapy, and I see a psychiatrist for medication. I might also be involved in the ACT program soon but its possible that I won't be approved for that because I do not have a criminal history and that is a prerequisite for it I believe.

Also, I know not to stop taking my medicine. I have done that before and the consequences were horrible. I ended up being suicidal and ended up in the hospital a few times over quitting my medicine too.

Your question is off topic and we are not debating me. I prefer to concentrate on the best health and welfare of PaladinGirl who will, like us all, benefit from good healthcare and spiritual support.
Well, my dear brother, PG asked about deliverance, and by the heading of the thread: Deliverance: Is it for today? What at else could one deduce?

I walk in are caring and capable ministry teams who are not raving, and ranting spectacles that you see in USA or on TV.

Don't you think that there are caring, respectable and knowledgeable men of GOD out there who are involved in our Lord Jesus Christ's ministry, such as those men of God who I referred to in my previous posting.

Those men have shared many times of healings by good Christian counselling, and cancers, depression, bipolar, and all other disorders healed from sound Biblical counselling.

When that happens, the enemy has to leave.

I wasn't offering exorcism!

I offered to PG a contact in USA who I have a lot of respect for, if they wanted to contact them.

It's PG's choice and decision.

Be blessed in Jesus' Name.

My dear sister, my heart goes out to you, as now you are caught up between different views of what deliverance is all about.

It's not what most say it to be, only those who went to the wrong people, and sadly got burnt by those false ministries.

Inner Healing is part-and-parcel of being set free from captivity. Actually, I would prefer not to use the word "Deliverance" at all, because as you can see from the reaction to your thread, it is a dirty word in USA. In Australia it is totally different.

Now, don't get me wrong, because medicine is a Gift from GOD, but medicine has no answers to spiritual problems, nor has pschiatry or psychotherapy.

The number of testimonies I have heard of cases who have suffered the same as you, have been set free by good Christian counselling by members of the healing ministry in many churches.

A human being consists of a body, soul, and spirit.

The body and soul can be afflicted by disease or sickness through physical or spiritual means, and sin.

You "soul" consist of our carnal mind, our emotions, our feelings, our will, and our spiritual mind (our heart).

If those parts of our soul are out of whack with each other, then inner turmoil, doubt, and confusion will exist, causing "doublemindedness".

Much of Christian's probles have been formed in our past life and growing up.

Many of our problems have been caused by trauma and abuse, which effects the soul, allowing our problems to manifest in the physical and spiritual.

Many, who are diagnosed like you, have testified after their healing that it all started with anger, that turned into bitterness, that turned in resentfulness. They all basically said that the longer their attitudes manifested in their life their personality began to change. Many became turtles, as they pulled back from rejection and abuse.

Through good sound Biblical Christian counselling, the layers of all their hurts, etc that are buried deepdown in their hearts begin to lift off.

I could talk forever the great releasing of those who had suffered for so long, popping pills, and now they are set free.

Seeing that you are a Catholic, then try and contact Francis MacNutt's ministry. I am sure you will get some good advice from him.

Be blessed in Jesus' Name.

Hallo Palladin Girl.

I am currently training at a seminary with the objective of providing skilled community and pastoral support to those in need and I do work and provide advice for a healing ministry.

God delights to work with people and so it should not surprise us that doctors can heal, often the best thing for people with mental distress is a combination of good pastoral care and discipleship from a loving and supportive Christian fellowship combiened with the support of a good mental health team (in the Uk that comprises of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, psychiatric nurses, community workers, social workers, and advocates) If you can add in a loving supportive and understanding system of family and friends then the possibilty of a good outcome in many areas of a persons life dramatically improves.

These are some thoughts form a work in progress on pastoral care and healing. I hope the below will help as you look for the support and help you need.

There are many on the inter-net who set themselves up and proclaim themselves to be deliverance ministers and for those seeking help it can be a little difficult to sort out those who work in this field because they serve God and those who serve themselves.

It is important to check out a persons qualifications wherever and whenever possible. It is also advisable to check if they belong to a profesional body such a ordinand in a particular denomination, membership of the association of Christian Counsellors and so on.
In the field of healing and deliverance ministry people can have many problems in many areas of their lives those ministers who have genuine compassion tend to continue training, studying and often undertake secular as well as pastoral and theological training to be able to provide the best they can to those in real need
The chalaincy team on this forum can help you to work out which questions to ask.

Regardless of the denomination a minister belongs to, there are some character traits that should be looked at before agreeing to work with a particular minister.

They should love their fellow man. In their lives they should show Gods sacrificial love through a genuine love of God, a genuine love of their fellow Christians and of their none Christian neighbours. [1 John 4: 7-11,[1] 19[2]]
This means this is a person is a mature follower of Christ who has spent time in reflection and known healing in their own life and who has enough personal resources to be able to share themselves with those in real need.
Be wary of any minister who has ‘red flags’. Red flags are subjects that a minister reacts to aggressively either verbally, with their body language and indicate this is an area the minister is either very uncomfortable with or has very polarised views upon. Be very wary of those who believe that all WILL be healed in this world, the bible does not say that.
If this happens it would be wise to find another minister who can listen to you calmly and with compassion.

Those who are asked by God to work in this field are equipped by him to do so. [3] [Romans 12 6-8] and the most noticeable skill is that of listening. Many people are poor at listening to others but a good minister is able to actively listen[4] to a person’s story so that they may be able to offer prayerful insight when it is asked for.[5]
[Romans 15:14]

When we read the whole of the chapter of both Romans 12 and Ephesians 4 we get a very good insight into who may be capable of good practise in the field of healing and deliverance as the character traits of a mature believer who loves Christ and others is outlined in detail.

The bible also says that such a person should have empathy with the suffering of others so they can compassionately care for them and not treat them as yet another ‘success’ notch for ‘their ministry’. Ideally they should be showing the qualities of Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who are rejoicing. Cry with those who are crying. Rather than Proverbs 25:20 As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
They are none judgemental of others and so they are not as Jobs comforters [Job 19 1-3][6] they are persistent and consistent in prayer and teach people to be dependant upon God and not upon deliverance ministers [Colossians 1 28-29][7]

They respect confidentiality according to the good laws of the country they live in and many do not even speak about others they have helped although others they have helped may speak of them [Proverbs 25:9][8]

Those who place Christ before themselves acknowledge freely that when a person makes the choice to comes to the cross they are being changed into Christ’s likeness. [2 Corinthians 3:18][9]
For it is the truth that is Jesus Christ that truly sets us free.

[1] 1Jn 4:7-11
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

[2]
1Jn 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

[3]
Rom 12:6-8 We have different gifts based on the grace that was given to us. So if your gift is prophecy, use your gift in proportion to your faith. If your gift is serving, devote yourself to serving others. If it is teaching, devote yourself to teaching others. If it is encouraging, devote yourself to encouraging others. If it is sharing, share generously. If it is leading, lead enthusiastically. If it is helping, help cheerfully.

[4]
Pro 18:13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

[5]
Rom 15:14 I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are filled with goodness and full of all the knowledge you need to be able to instruct each other.

[6] Job 19:1-3
Then Job answered and said, How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words? These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.

[7]
Col 1:28-29 It is he whom we proclaim as we admonish everyone and teach everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ. I work hard and struggle to do this according to his energy that powerfully works in me.

[8]
Pro 25:9 Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:

[9]
2Co 3:17-18[FONT=&quot] Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. [/FONT]

...from my own point of view deliverance is definitely needed today.

...yes I could quote church history, other friends and so on, but personally I was like the man who lived in the tombs...

I was into Theistic Satanism for a few years, and a while ago came to Christ. I have been for prayer for deliverance as I was blacking out and self-harming, also attacking others who were near me at the time.
I would not be able to spot this "change" about to happen, but apparently my eyes changed, my voice changed and so on.

When I decided to go for prayer, for the week beforehand I was like a different person. You talk about hearing voices...man at times I could hardly think straight the voices were shouting so loudly. I've posted in another post on schizophrenia about this so I won't go over it here.

When I went for prayer it was in a very unemotional non-charismatic setting, so there was no "working up" of emotions etc.

I remember feeling my face change, my eyes were burning, my voice was totally different, but thanks to the incredible power of Jesus Christ I also remember those things leaving me - the sensation was quite definite.

Since then a lot of the accusing / depressing / self-harming thoughts have STOPPED COMPLETELY.
I am slowly beginning to accept and love myself, I no longer want to harm the body that God has made for me, and fir the first time in about 5 years I believe I have a wonderful future ahead of me.

I can tell you I've tried various medication for depression, and also non-christian counselling and also christian counselling for these problems....

....NOTHING worked.

Only a deliverance from evil spirits was the answer.

Hope this helps

Thanks for sharing your story, Praise God!!!! How awesome is our God!

God means what He says when He talks about delivering the oppressed. It's not just words, it's what God does.

God delivered me from some stuff a few years ago as well, including depression, self hatred, and an addiction.

It was a 180 degree turn for me once God freed me from some things. Though I wasn't as harassed by voices etc except major shame, I was in quite a dark place as well and desperate for help. Knew it had a spiritual component to it that I couldnt' fight, counselling hadn't helped either.

God led me to someone who told me the truth about God, and it was spoken with God's love, power God is very powerful and He just lifted it all and shone His light in the darkness, taught me His ways, still learning but I agree deliverance is definitely for today.

Has to be discerning help though and God's timing.
