Here are some verses that should help you, prayer is the answer to everything.

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
John 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Yes, we need to say a "sinners prayer" read the following verses..

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Do you think a man should pray the sinners prayer so to speak to be saved?

Our words are a very important part of our salvation. By our words we will be justified. It is by the tongue that people will condemn themselves. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit involves the tongue.

Matthew 12:36-37  But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. [37] For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

Dont you think prayer is an action of the heart mind body and soul to not just words that come out your mouth,

No, beloved of God, that would be like saying our actions can save us and we know scripture does not say that we are capable of that. We must confess Jesus as our Lord and Savior to be saved from our sins, while believing in our heart is what justifiies us before our Heavenly Father.

"For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved." (Romans 10:9-10, NLT)

You cannot have confession without belief, nor belief without confession.

Perhaps this will also help, beloved of God:

Subject: (Romans 10:9-10)

The word “confess” (Greek homologeo) has the connotation of “a binding public declaration by which a legal relation is contractually established” (Kittel). Thus, as our words “contract” from our side the salvation God has fully provided from His by Christ’s saving work and power, so we have a principle for all of life. Beginning in this spirit of saving faith, let us grow in active faith—believing in God’s mighty power for all our needs, speaking with our lips what our hearts receive and believe of the many promises in His Word. Let us accept God’s “contracts” for all our need by endowing them with our confessed belief—just as when we were saved.
