What’s wrong with our President?

So was 9/11 a figment of our imaginations?

Dude you are reaching. A plane is not considered to be a WMD..at least in the classical sense..and it is not something for which there would be export controls for.

I forgot that Saddam Hussein was in the air transport business.

Are you saying simply shipping helicopters to him is equivalent to sending him WMD? Do you realize they weren't armed helicopters but standard transport helicopters that could be used for any transportation purpose.

I suppose I just never trusted Saddam Hussein as completely as you did.

We had no reason to distrust him until he invaded Kuwait.

First of all planes/helicopters are not WMDs at least in any classical sense. I guess we would then need to classify trucks as WMD and stop sending those overseas since they destroyed a building in Oklahoma City.

And you have not shown we shipped WMD's to Iraq..so please retract your statement. We sent materials to Iraq that had valid civilian applications so once again you are wrong. I looked at the report and they were all sent to civilian or educational institutions.

Are you familiar that sometimes terrorists use items in ways they were not originally designed? Haven't you ever seen MacGyver?

I think you'll find that a lot of things aren't considered what they used to be "in the classical sense" anymore... it's a whole new war, Jimmy.

Are you saying simply shipping helicopters to him is equivalent to sending him WMD? Do you realize they weren't armed helicopters but standard transport helicopters that could be used for any transportation purpose.

I'm sure you realize that Saddam's only purpose was to "transport" little old ladies to and from the local mosque every Friday.

It's called common sense, Jimmy. Had our government practiced some, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Besides, the helicopters are small potatoes compared to the WMDs we did ship him.

Of course, gassing the Kurds back in '88 was a completely trustworthy and noble act...

Are you being this stupid on purpose? Really?
To say helicopters are WMD is the most asinine and retarded thing I have ever heard.

Once again I ask you would you consider a UHaul truck to be a WMD? One of those destroyed a building in Oklahoma City. Should we have not allowed the export of any trucks which may be able to carry fertilizer in the back?

Not when they were exported..back in the 80's

So what if he was transporting troops or government officials around the country with them? Regardless, they were not combat helicopters They were simple transportation helicopters. Selling him non-armed helicopters is not a big deal. No one would consider them to be WMD.

We never shipped him WMD

The op reeks of the disconnect between ignorance and what is happening on the ground. Hundreds of thousands of dead and wounded. Millions displaced. Years of chaos breeding an unpredictable number of years of future chaos and death and all the op can do is sound like rodney king? Why can't we all just get along?

I want to know why people are so unhappy with him. Why was he booed while throwing the first pitch at the National’s game tonight?

The war? What’s changed? It was a pretty popular decision to go into Iraq. As I remember, we, the Brits, and mother Russia all were sure there were nukes there. Turns out there wasn’t; what’s a President to do? Say never mind and bring everyone home? That’s OUR lives lost in vain by my count.

Ahh ... the declaration of "success" was made over three years ago ... and we're still there. That could be part of it.

The economy? The President should have very little to do with our economy; laissez fare as our system was founded on. What was he supposed to do? Go out and buy a bunch of stocks? Stocks/jobs/inflation rises and falls no matter who lives on Pennsylvania Avenue.

How about not enacting practices such as the NO CHILD LEFT A DIME program, where public schools now pay teachers, assistants, and private nurses to sit all day long and change the diapers or menstrual pads of teenagers who can't recite their ABC's? My wife was a substitute teacher for a number of years. When the NO CHILD LEFT A DIME program came along, she was re-assigned from being a substitute, to sitting all day long beside a 16-year old wheelchair-bound girl who couldn't talk or communicate, and wore a pad on her arm to wipe off her drool on. The girl had to be taken to the bathroom and cleaned up when completed. The class they were in had 5 similar students ... each requiring one assistant and a classroom nurse. The school had to hire several nurses, and purchase several specially equipped wheelchair lift buses. As a result, local taxes were raised and teachers took a 2% salary cut. Within 2 years, my wife (and a lot of other teachers and assistants) quit.

I live in Northern Virginia and know two people who work or worked with the President and they were both very complementary to the man’s personality, his desire to do what is best for the country. Why is his approval rating in the 20’s? What did 70 some percent of America want him to do differently?

How about helping out american workers and not padding the pockets of people in the "good ole boy" network around him?

I would say there is a good bit to be unhappy with when considering the government and I am far from an expert on politics or history; but why and who decided W would make an appropriate scapegoat?

He's not responsible for all the flaws in our economy. But he certainly has done his share of damage. The killer for me was about two months back, he was giving a press conference and a reporter ask him what he thought about the prospect of $4.00-per-gallon gas prices during this summer; Bush looked completely stunned and said "He hadn't heard about that". You can tell he doesn't pump his own gas.

I know now I'm wishing a lot of the folks who voted for him stick had their Bush/Cheney bumper stickers on their cars. That would be funny.

Thanks[/quote]
