We know we are to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, but why Jerusalem? What makes Jerusalem more important that all the other cities of the world in the eyes of God?

We know that God is going to destroy this earth and build a New Jerusalem. Why is the new place called New Jerusalem?

Because Yeshua will come back at Sion... And G´d asked of all of us to pray for Jeruzalem.

But why will he come back THERE, and not someplace else? What is it about Jerusalem that makes it so special?

Daniël 9 tells us Jeruzalem is the city of G´d. Jeruzalem is very near His heart. Melchizedek became king of Jeruzalem. Jeruzalem is the place on earth G´d consider it as His own. Jeruzalem is the place of His inheritance.

I guess you can find die answer in the Tenach. Isaiah 2:1-4

We know that God is going to destroy this earth and build a New Jerusalem. Why is the new place called New Jerusalem?

Because, lambslove, in Judaism the New Jerusalem is a metaphysical concept wherein the old and the new have become one in the land of Israel. Isreal cannot be a nation because just as we are lost until we are found so must a Jew be without a homeland (lost), until he is found. The homecoming of the Jew must be into the land of his birth which is the state of mind he once left behind.

Jerusalem is the state of mind he left behind when he ventured into the world and when he returns to the city of God, the colt (the new) will be there combined with the old (donkey) that carried him hither. Hence the New Jerusalem will not be found until after the destruction of his old world (Jerusalem) because the New Jerusalem must be the intergrated combination of the old and the new. In Catholicism we call this the Resurrection (of the old with the new).

One could say that Israel stands for freedom in Judaism and the New Jerusalem identifies the liberated Jew within Israel.

Hebron was the initial capital city of ancient Israel but when King David sought to honour God and to bring up the Ark it was to Jerusaem that God decreed it should be.

Geographically from space the mountains of Jerusalem actually spell out God's name. Ezekiel 44:1-3 also informs us that God himself declares that He has entered Jerusalem via the sealed gate through which Messiah will enter.

The house of God constructed by Solomon was on the temple kotel and God honoured that creation by a visitation of fire falling. The perpetual commandment was to be building his house. Do you know that there is much evidence to point to the fact that Abraham offered Isaac up on the opposing end of the heights upon which the temple site is, that is above the place of a scull.

Messiah is predestined to come to Jerusalem, enter through the sealed gate and take his throne in the temple where he will fulfil his roles of prophet, priest and king. He will rule and reign from Jerusalem. Why?? Because God is sovereign and has decreed it to be that way.

Has anyone else ever noticed that the Middle East resembles a King who is praying on His knees?

Here is a map to look at:

http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/middle_east_and_asia/middleeast_ref01.jpg

Turkey forms the head, and the western coast of Turkey resembles a crown.

The Arabian Peninsula forms the body, and the southern coast resembles the legs in a kneeling position.

The arms are formed by the Sinai Peninsula, and the land of Goshen, located in the Nile delta, form the hands.

And Israel is located in, of all places, the heart.

If you can see the image, take note that the only man-made structure is the Suez Canal, which is driven, just like a nail, through the wrists of the praying hands.
