MY dad and I have been having heated discussions about homosexuality. It is my argument that a homosexual is no worse IN GOD'S EYEs than a liar or any other sinner. It is my argumetn that Gd loves us botht the same. Though I do not agree with homosexuality, I also do not agree with lying or any other sinful acts. I beleive Jesus' blodd is sufficient to cover ALL sin and that God can not love us any more or any less than He already does for anything that we do. During our discussion he asked me if I was gay and said he had better not find out if I was. I am not gay, but it hurt me that his love for me would change if I were. It gave me a new thankfulness for God's unchanging love for me. Anyway, his argument was based on the unproductiveness of homosexual relations, and personal disgust with AIDS, and past encounters. I argued that sin in general is unproductive because it is rebellion from God. When he saw that I was making sense he pretty much shut off the convo and told me that he had much knowledge of the Bible and proceeded to tell me that I didn't have any right to go against him on this. This was weird and out of character for my normally free thinking and supportive dad, but anyway. My reason for this post is not how to handle this situation I have that under God's watch, but I would like to know you guys opinion on homosexuality and what you think God's view of this is. Any comments will be read and appreciated. God bless and peace be with you.

Simple - hate the sin, love the sinner. After all, isn't that what Christ demonstrated to us?

In discussing how you were hurt by your fathers seemingly conditional love, do not hold this against him too much. Remember that our love is not perfect like our Heavenly Fathers Love is towards us. If our love was perfect, there would have been no need for God to show us His perfect love through the sacrifice of His one and only Son for us. Just as our love is not perfect, let us realize that and try our best to let God's mercy flow through us to those around us.

in Christ,
shawn

And my views are the same Biblically as both of yours...God does not feel more repulsed by the homosexuality of one man than He does by the lying I've done in the past. Sin is sin is sin.

And politically, I'm afraid I have quite radical beliefs...I'm amazed that the U.S. has gone as long as it has without making homosexual marriages legal - I can't quite find it constitutional, regardless of my Christian convictions, that they are not provided the same, er, rights as heterosexual citizens...and I've found that I'm constantly being the object of Bible throwing on that one. :D It sickens me and makes me unendingly sad that it would be so...but that's "state" :)

I may not believe in gay marriages coz i believe in the sanctity of marriage bet a man and a woman but I still adhere to the saying "love the sinner, hate the sin"

We are all guilty of sinning and we should be understanding about others as well.

A good book will be "What's so amazing about grace" Phillip Yancey.

"This was weird and out of character for my normally free thinking and supportive dad."

Were you wearing a skirt while talking to him? ;) (just kidding).

Sin is sin, but I think some need immediate attention. Pedophelia, murder, rape, are all sin. I wouldn't classify them on the same level as lying, gluttony, or gossip. All sin must be dealt with.

God refers to homosexuality as an "abomination". Probably because it is directly opposed to man's first directive which is to "multiply and fill the earth". This is both a spiritual directive and a physical one.

Sin is sin. Some sin is hidden from view and it is up to the idividual to deal with it as the Holy Spirit guides. Some sin is overt and the Church must deal with it biblically, spiritually, and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

If I am in an adulterous relationship openly, then it's up to my pastor to address the issue with me. If I am caught in an obvious lie, he should deal with that also. If I cheat, or lie, and no one catches me, then I get away with it for a season.

Love the sinner and hate the sin, but deal with it.

Well I need some advice, and I guess this is as good as place as any to get some. In the past few months I have been questioning, myself and my sexuality. You see I am VERY close to my mother, she is my best friend, she is also very spritual. She was raised catholic, then became christian, then muslim, and now she is jewish. The thing is, she HATE gays/lesbians how can I live my life and be happy yet, keep her love, if I am something she hates? I was raised to think that this was wrong, I would rather kill myself than go against gods law/rules. What do I do? do I ignore these feelings and pray them away or should I embrace them and live for me and be happy?

I dont want to sound one sided on such an issue, but....

I hold nothing personal agenst homosexuals it dosent say discriminate agenst them in the bible, but it does say it is detestable befor the Lord in scripture.

We as sheep are not here to judge, leave that to the Judge to do so, above all other love your neighbor.

On a stance of conditional love it is sad, cuz i have always beleaved in UNconditional. Even if my own daughter was a homosexual i could never cut her off.

It's true that both the homosexual and the liar will end up in the lake of fire. God hates liars perhaps most of all, because in order to abide in God, you must abide in truth.

Rev. 21:8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

Of course the main thing in a situation like this, is to remember that we are to always honor our parents. Just the same, a father is not to provoke his children, but to bring them up in the training and the admonition of the Lord.

Ephes. 6:2-4
"Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise: [3] "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth." [4] And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

Hey all,
When Jesus died on the cross He died for our sins, all the sins of the world. No matter what sin one has commited once you come before Christ and ask for forgiveness he will take away your sins and make you new.
We as christians should preach this to others who do not know our Lord so as to bring them closer to God.
As others on this thread have said hate the sin and not the sinner.
Bless you all. ;)
