• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I cannot bring about a healing of perfect health for someone I love no matter how hard I try to do so.

I have prayed for this healing, I have given financial gifts to God along with my prayers in the hope that would activate the healing (although not much, only about 4 dollars-maybe if I threw in $100 or something?), I have begged God, I have believed that the healing has taken place for days even when I knew it hadn't, I would be willing to go without food for 60 days in a fast if my family would let me, I would even give my own life. Nevertheless the healing has not happened.

I am not willing to yell at this person and tell him that his sin is keeping him from the healing because I am 90 percent sure that is NOT the case. As far as I know he is a good Christian.

That means I am somehow failing as a Christian, because from what I hear it is our new-birthright to be able to bring about miraculous healings. I don't have any idea where or how I'm not doing enough.

Susan, I wish I could tell you that what you are doing will work but I cannot. Sometimes God chooses not to heal. There are many times that the Lord allows someone to be sick. He can use that person in many ways. Like to witness to others who have the same affiction, be a comfort to others who are in the same position as they are. There are many many reasons that God doesn't heal someone. We can't bring that healing ourselves. It's not up us to decide that. Yes, we can pray with everything we have in us but that will not change God's will. Giving God gifts will not bring about healing either. Faith can sometimes. But like I said before no matter what we do sometimes, God will not change his plans to suit ours. He knows what he is doing and it's always best to leave that up to him. I wish I could offer you some comfort in your hurting. All I can do is remind you that everything that happens, happens for a reason and most times we don't know those reasons. Just know that God is there for your friend no matter what. Just allow God to use you as a comfort to that person. And continue praying for him/her. Just trust God to do what is best, and remember that what we want and desire are not always what God wants or desires. I'll keep you and your friend in my prayers. Of course I'll pray that the healing happens, that would be wonderful, but know that if it doesn't it is nothing that you did wrong. I believe that you are doing the best that you know how. But please if that healing doesn't happen know that it is for a reason. God can always use the bad times and bad things to bring about the most wonderous happings. I wish I was there to give you a hug, but this computer one is all I've got so here it is...

In Christ,
Anna

Susan,

Several of us, that are considered WOF and believe in healing, have made it clear that healing has nothing to do with you but everything to do with Jesus. We've also stated several times, that healing, while we believe it does happen the moment we ask, does not always manifest the moment we ask.

I stood on the promises of God for 15 years before healing began to manifest in my life.

I prayed for a cyst on my dog's body for years, watching it grow larger until one day when I put my hand in that area discovered it was no longer there.

It's very noble of you to be willing to do all those things for your friend to be healed. But no one is healed due to our actions but to His. Jesus did it on the cross. By His stripes we are healed. Not by yours or mine. By HIS! Healing has nothing to do with you.

All you can do is continue to pray and be an incouragement to your friend.

There are many reasons to why you don't see a healing manifested.
One "could" be sin in yours or there life.
Another reason could be that you doubt.
Have you brung this person to the elders of the church? This could be another reason.

There are so many reasons that could hinder this from happening.
But the fact is when you become born again, there is still so much to learn.
Even Jesus didn't go out on His ministry untill the age of 30.
Andrew Wormack said, you are complete in your spirit, but it is your mind that needs to be renewed to that fact. This takes, God, time, and work.

Take this problem to the prayer forums, and also bring this person to the elders of a church that does and has seen miracles and healings on a regular basis. Be like the people in the gospels that "pressed in" and recieved healings and miracles from Jesus.

Praise God Susan. Yes standing in agreement for healing for your friend.
Thanks Quaffer for your testimony. Yes my husband had to stand in faith believing for a healing of cancer on his temple. It was terrible to look at and two years later God healed him. He was listening to a evangelist who prayed over the radio and the power of God went through him.

Something I read that may interest you that really touch me when people are standing waiting for healing.

Most gladly therfore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 corinthians 12v9.

God is especially close to us when we are lying on a sickbed. God will make the bed soft and will freshen it with his presence and with his tender care. He makes the bed comfortable and wipes away our tears. He ministers to us with special tenderness at such a time and reveals His great love for us. Tell me why the gardener trims and prunes his rosebushes, sometimes cutting away productive branches, and I will tell you why God's people are afflicted. God's hand never slips. He never makes a mistake. His every move is for our own good and for our ultimate good. Oftentimes He must deform us and mutilate our own image. Deformity sometimes precedes conformity.

God may use disease and illness and struggles for His glory. If it is not His will that someone be healed, then that is what is best. Even if it's hard for us... =(

It is best just to pray... which we are TOLD to do! :) ... and trust God that He knows what's best. That's really easy to say. Trusting God in that way is much harder than just saying it... :)

/me prays for Susan and the loved one.

this one thing i know...
it is never the will of god for you to be sick, or anyone.
if it was ever the will of god for us to be sick, then why do we always go to doctors and try to fight it? if it were gods will then why dont we just not take any medicine and just soak up as much of the will of god as we can!?

there are alot of if ands or buts.... but you must learn this fact.
which is
ultamitely god wants you well, and everyone else.

he hates sickness. he does not use sickness for his glory! it is never the will of god for his people to be sick or diseased in anyway!
if god wanted to be glorified why doesnt he heal all the sick and show the world the miracles done in his name! that would bring god glory.
when the bible said jesus and the apostles went around preaching the word and confirming it with miracles and healings, it glorified god that people got healed! not that anyone stayed in sickness and god made em tough enough to bear it!

the bible says people saw miracles, healings, people raised from the dead, people being set free of bondagde,  AND THEN PEOPLE GLORIFIED GOD! god recieves no glory when his people are hurting, wasting away, dying, diseased, but people today say
OHHHHH ITS TO GLORIFY GOD! I ENDURE THIS IN JESUS NAME! OHH GLORY!
whatever...
the bible never records a person glorifying god by seeing his people dying! but only when seeing his people healed!

it is never the will of god for a person to be sick or diseased.
and when the bible says god allowed something to happen, it is for very clear stated reasons. not for reasons that apply to the everyday person who thinks god simply doesnt want to heal them.

another thing,
healing is not a promise. it is not something god promised to someday do for you.
healing is a provision. it is something that comes at the point of the need.
healing was part of the atonement.
jesus preached that all would be healed, just as he preached that all would be saved! depending on your faith.

he preached these two in the very same breath sometimes.
healing and salvation have been provided together in the same package, if we have the faith to attain it and not faint till we see it manifest.
if healing can sometimes be asked for, and god not give it.
THEN YOU CAN ALSO ASK FOR SALVATION, AND GOD SIMPLY NOT GIVE IT!
WHICH IS NEVER THE TRUTH!

if people are born again, and yet bound by sickness and disease, then the fault is with the person. not with god.

sickness and disease are of the devil, never of god.
the bible says that when a person was sick, jesus often rebuked a demon, and then the infirmity left them.
sickness is never of god, but it is of the devil.

it never brings god glory for his people to be in chains of satan!
it never does. it brings god glory when his people are set free and have a testimony!
jesus said it is impossible that offences not come, but whoa to the man by whom they come, that man is never god! but it is satan.

and it is no longer up to jesus to set you free.
listen to me people...
when jesus said that he gave US all power and authority over the enemy and that nothing shall by anymeans hurt us, he wasnt lying.
he gave US that power.
when he said he gave PETER, the keys to kingdom. he wasnt lying.
when peter said what "I" have i give you...
he wasnt lying.

it is up to YOU to put on your personal armor of god and go fight your own good fight of faith!
AND SOMETIMES IT SURELY IS A FIGHT! but the word of god said we have absolute power over all the enemies power according to our potential with god. but it is sad to say that most christians are not anywhere near that potentail....
the devil is not supposed to be able to beat you, and is not supposed to have any power over you.

i do not have all the answers, there are alot of "ifs ands or buts" but it is clear from scripture that one thing is true that jesus paid the price for sin, and at the same time he paid the price for our healing, just as easily as you can get saved, YOU CAN BE HEALED!
that is the word of god.

but the problem is that most people simply wait on god to do the work all by himself.
and i agree the power is gods and not our own.
but he has given us his power in the form of armor for us to wear and weapons for us to wield.
the ball is now in our courts. jesus went and sat down.
and left his work for other men to finish, why?
becuase he knew we were perfectly capable of doing exactly what he had done on earth and even more!

listen to this scripture that backs up everything i just said.
eph.3.20
now unto him that is able to do exceeding abunduntly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.

that just said that you cant ask god for all that he can give you.
you can ask to be healed, but god can do more than that!
then why do ever think that god cant answer a certain prayer?
what he can do, is above your mind, youll never even think to ask for that much...then how easy is it for him to do atleast what we can think? there has never been a dream to great for god, or a prayer he has not been able to answer.

but the key is stated.
according to the power that works in us.
how much power are you using? do you have enough faith?
are you strong enough in the spirit to bring that to pass?
it depends on how much of gods power you have.
most people have very little.
the disciples were overcome by a spirit, but jesus overcame ithat spirit.
and jesus said they failed for lack of faith, and it was becuase they had not been praying and fasting enough.

god never refuses to answer a faithful prayer.
when you pray in faith, you receive at that very moment.
the thing is yours, its just not arrived yet.

daniel prayed, but his miracle didnt happen in the natural realm for a number of days.
but when the angel did get there the angel told him that the prayer had been answered the moment his prayer was heard in the heavon!
and between that time and the time he actually got it there was a battle going on, an angel of darkness fought with the angel of light and resisted him, and slowed him down.
but daniel was fasting and praying, our prayers give strength to our angels. thats why the angels will overcome the dragon by the blood of the lamb and by the word of OUR testimony.
it is US being redeemed, and OUR faith from testimony that will strengthen the angels to overcome the dragon.
our prayers mean everything in the spiritual realm.

but the point is....
daneil received owned his answer to prayer the moment he prayed.
then the answer was on its way.
(like ordering a book, you order it, they take the money from your account and at that moment the book is yours. but it simply has not arrived at your house yet, but it is coming.)
most people fail
BETWEEN THE PRAYER BEING ANSWERED, AND THE ANSWER BEING RECEIVED.
becuase they lose faith, they get discouraged, they give up, and they walk away....
when the answer was on its way.
thats why if we have faith, we will obtain....IF WE FAINT NOT in the way.

a word of advise.
you can pray all you want, fast all you want, jump up and down, shout at god, cry your eyes out....but that will do nothing to move god.
but one prayer with faith will cause god to move heavon and earth.
all your energy and effort does not compare to faith.
if you just beleive...only beleive.

your prayers have most likely been answered.
dont doubt that. the bible says if you beleive, then they have been.
but it is up to that person to recieve it and yeild to the power of god.

take this as encouragement and wisdom
i remember a great man of faith named kenneth hagin.
a woman was dying....
and he prayed, everyone prayed, and he beleived, but the woman died anyway.
and he never could understand why, he had stood on the word, beleived, and never saw it happen, was god lying?

and he said to god
"I KNOW I BELEIVED....I KNOW I HAD FAITH."
and god said in return to him.
"that was between me and her.... never touch it again, not in your words or in your thoughts"

god made it clear that what happened to the woman was between her and god alone in this incident. the woman had been in ministry and knew the ways of god.
and when she died. god commanded kenneth to not speak about it or think on it again...becuase this had been between him and her.
it was nothing to do with kenneth.

sometimes you simply cannot cause a change in another persons life.
you do all you know how to do and more, and then...trust god.

but the key is a never ending faith.
to maintain a miracle you must maintain faith. dont give up or faint in the middle of the fight. your answers on the way...dont faint in the way.

Oh dear Susan. Sounds heaps bad. :(
I should tell you though that you're really noble to do such a thing. Remember that God will do His part in His time. Personally i think it's not a matter of how hard you try. It's not you that's going to heal him, it's God. Just ask God. This trouble you're trying to fix may be out of your power. Get God to do it. He's got the power to do anything. And whatever happens, just trust God.

"Even though you slay me, i will still trust God." *ummm*

Man is there any medicine here that can get me to remember verse sections properly?

hehe
that scripture you quoted is from job. off the top of my head i think he said that in reply to his wife advise to curse god and die. but i havent searched it out so i cant say exactly. but it is a statement of job's.

susan
i am sorry. really i am.
when i post things i am known for getting very uhmm...wild you could say, passionate about it, i dont know i just really get into it.
i type quicker than i should and sometimes forget words hehe.
well i have edited it.
i didnt have time to edit it last night when i went back and saw all my mistakes.
i wasnt trying to blame you for anything, i was simply stressing the point that when god doesnt heal a person, we must change our strategy. becuase it is clear that god wants no one sick, and sickness is never of god, and that god wants your friend healed. we just have to get ourselves in proper place and condition to receive it. sorry if that seemed a little overbearing. im in no wise at that place myself, i was preaching alot to myself.

listen...healing is provided without you having to work for it. no amount of money, good works or begging is going to bring healing. Christ has already finished everything, so don't let the devil decieve you into believing that Christ's stripes weren't enough. I know you don't believe that, but that's basically what it is when you try to earn it.

now, all you really need to do is stand in faith. you need to believe that God wants to heal, and then just leave it up to Him. and don't put Him in a box. maybe He'll heal your friend in His own way. don't be shaken because things don't happen the way you expect it to.:)

it's really like salvation. when you were saved, did you have to give God money? no...it's free (as in money or works) all you needed is faith in Christ. it's the same with healing.:)

Did God tell you that if you to do these things he would heal that person? somehow I doubt that he would expect you to do any of these things in return for things he offers freely.

I am not willing to yell at this person and tell him that his sin is keeping him from the healing because I am 90 percent sure that is NOT the case. As far as I know he is a good Christian.

Nor should you yell at him. It has nothing to do with sin at all. We shouldn't worry about why God has chosen not to heal someone we should already know that everything is already in his hands. Rest knowing that God uses everything for his Glory, this person might have more faith in God to see them through each day and the struggles they face than say someone who doesn't need healing at all. They could be serving as a witness to him in places they might not otherwise go.

2 Corinthians
1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

That means I am somehow failing as a Christian, because from what I hear it is our new-birthright to be able to bring about miraculous healings. I don't have any idea where or how I'm not doing enough.

Where did you hear this? From God? From the Bible? From a church? From people? What about where the Bible talks about facing struggles?

Have you asked God to bring you understanding yet? He will and can you know. You need to trust in him as your guide and teacher, not others, no one can open your eyes to the things he can.

well,
im sorry if my post seemed like i was saying that christians will never have problems or never be sick.

i certainly agree that struggles will come, tribulations are as much a part of the new covenant as salvation is.

im just saying that those tribulations dont have to overcome you.
many problems and things will come up against our lives.
its just that in christ we will always overcome.
it isnt that the tribulation wont remain for a time.
the weapon will be formed agaisnt us, it simply will not overcome us.
we will come out on top.
i really am sorry if i seem to sound like im pointing the finger as someones flaws. :sigh:  im sorry.
i really am just trying to help.

have any of us prayed for susan and asked god if he would give us a word for her? he may be able to tell one of us certain things that  maybe shes not able to hear. many times god spoke to people, through people.
yellowpenguin had a scripture at the bottom of her reply from galations, talking about how we must carry each others burdens in order to fullfill the law of christ. i had never seen that.

Susan, the thing I realize more, and more as my walk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, progresses daily is that God's ways are not our ways.

Within the last year my father went home to the Lord and my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Her many different physicians didn't expect her to live past April of this year.

I continually pray for my mother's health regarding her very serious medical condition. I know not what the future will hold for her apart from the knowledge she will go home to the Lord, as we all will someday.

PHILIPPIANS 1:20
20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

PHILIPPIANS 1:21
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
