What pleases God?

The things that please God are:

1. To believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him

Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

2. To do good and to share with others

Hebrews 13:16
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

3. To live peaceful and quite lives in holiness and godliness

1 Timothy 2:2-4
...that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Holy implies sacredness, being consecrated to God, or being worthy of God.

To be holy is to be free from anything that would offend a perfect God, to be free from impurity (moral pollution and spiritual defilement).

Sanctification is the process by which a person is made holy. The Holy Spirit of God, who dwells   inside us at the moment of salvation, is able to transform us. By the power of the Spirit, we have the ability to "abstain from fleshly lusts which war against our soul." By yielding to God, He is able to "perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle" us. Holy living must be our goal because God commands it and because it befits our true identity. It is one's "honorable" conduct and "good works" that cause evildoers to glorify God.

Godliness is the desire to see God's character reproduced in us.

Contentment is the acceptance of God's will in one's life.

4. To not be controlled by one's sinful nature

Romans 8:8
Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.

5. To obey his commands

Matthew 22:36-40
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Luke 10:26-28
"What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?" He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."

1 John 3:22
...and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.

The person who pleases God, God gives this person:

1. Wisdom
2. Knowledge
3. Happiness
4. Wealth

Ecclesiastes 2:26
To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God.
